Florida Wins SEC Tournament - Mar 17, 2014
Michael Frazier (6'4''-G-94) and Patric Young (6'9''-C-92) each scored 14 points Sunday and top-ranked Florida escaped the Georgia Dome with a thrilling 61-60 win against second-seeded Kentucky to capture the 2014 Southeastern Conference Men's Basketball Tournament. The Gators (32-2), who extended their winning streak to a school-record 26 games, won their fourth all-time SEC Tournament Championship and their first since 2007. Florida led wire-to-wire in the game and was up by as many as 16 points early in the second half, but saw its advantage cut to one point, 54-53, with 6:16 remaining. Florida shot 43.4 percent (23-of-53) from the field in the game, but made just 7-of-17 free-throw attempts. Kentucky shot 35.3 percent (18-of-51) from the floor, connecting on 21-of-26 charity shots. The Gators, who led 40-30 at halftime, won the rebounding advantage 38-36. Four Florida players scored in double figures in the game. Scottie Wilbekin (6'2''-G-92) was named the SEC Tournament's Most Valuable Player, scoring 11 points in Sunday's championship game with a game-high six assists and two steals. Casey Prather (6'6''-F-91) also scored 11 points and added five rebounds. Will Yeguete (6'7''-F-91) brought down a team-high seven rebounds. Kentucky (24-10) was led by a game-high 16 points from Aaron Harrison (6'6''-SG-94) and 13 from James Young (6'6''-G/F-95). Willie Cauley-Stein (7'0''-F-93) brought down a game-high 11 rebounds.
