South Florida Wins 2026 American Conference Men's Basketball Championship-Mar 16, 2026
Top-seeded South Florida defeated No. 2 Wichita State, 70–55, on Sunday afternoon at Legacy Arena at the BJCC to win the 2026 American Men’s Basketball Championship.
South Florida (25-8) is in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time, and the first time since 2012. They are the No. 11 seed in the East Regional, and play Thursday against Louisville (23-10) at 1:30 p.m. ET on TNT.
It was a battle inside the paint to begin the team as both teams attacked the basket to score their first 24 of the 27 combined points. Kenyon Giles (5'10''-PG) hit a near half-court buzzer-beating three to end the first half, as the Shockers went into the locker room trailing by seven.
The Bulls continued to pull away in the second half thanks to a strong performance from Wes Enis (6'2''-G), the American Men’s Basketball Championship Most Outstanding Player. Enis scored 15 of his 19 points in the second half, while playing all 40 minutes in the game. South Florida shot 16 of their 23 free throws in the second half, going 13-for-16 from the charity stripe.
Izaiyah Nelson (6'10''-F), the American Player of the Year, added 13 points, six rebounds and two blocks. Josh Omojafo (6'5''-G) scored 10 points for the Bulls.
Dillon Battie (6'8''-F) led the Shockers with 15 points, while Will Berg (7'2''-C-2003) added 10 points and six rebounds.

Izaiyah Nelson, forward from the University of South Florida, was selected as the Player of the Year at the NCAA Division II. He received multiple other awards, was honored as the Defensive Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, and was named to the First Team, Third Team and Tournament Team. Nelson averaged almost 16 points and 10 rebounds per game in the league. He has totalled 9 games of 20 or more points and recorded double-doubles in 19 games on the year. Nelson's 25 points against the Georgia College & State University were the most he scored in the 25 26 season. Among many awards he played in the final of the Sun Belt Tournament for two years in a row (2024 and 2025).
Wes Enis, guard from the University of South Florida, earned the All-Tournament MVP of NCAA Division I. He collected multiple other honors, earned a spot in the First Team and Third Team and Tournament Team. Enis registered almost 17 points and 4 rebounds per game that season in the league. He has totalled 13 games of 20 or more points on the year and had 30 or more points in 2 games. Enis' 36 points against the University of Alabama at Birmingham were the most he scored in the 25 26 season. Among many awards Enis' team won the SAC Regular Season in 2025. He was also selected as the All-SAC Player of the Year in 2025. Enis was selected as the All-SAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2025. He was also selected to the D2CCA All-Southeast Region First Team in 2025. Enis was selected to the SAC All-Freshman Team in 2024.
Jordan Riley, guard from the East Carolina University, was voted to the First Team at the NCAA Division I. He recorded over 21 points and almost 6 rebounds per game over the season in the league. Riley has totalled 7 games of 20 or more points on the year. His 31 points against Buffalo were the most he scored in the 25 26 season. He played in the final of the AAC Tournament in 2024.
David Green, forward from the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, was selected to the First Team of NCAA Division I. He was also chosen to the Third Team. With Green's excellent performance, the Tulsa Golden Hurricane achieved the best record of the season in the league, finishing with an impressive 25 to 6 in the regular season. Green averaged almost 17 points and over 4 rebounds per game in the league. He has totalled 8 games of 20 or more points on the year. Green's 34 points against the University of South Florida were the most he scored in the 25 26 season. He played in the final of the C-USA Tournament in 2022.
Kenyon Giles, point guard from the Wichita State University, was named to the First Team at the NCAA Division I. He received multiple other awards, earned a spot in the Third Team and Tournament Team. Giles logged over 19 points per game that season in the league. He has totalled 15 games of 20 or more points on the year and registered 30 or more points in 2 games. Giles' 33 points against the University of North Texas were the most he scored in the 25 26 season. Among many awards Giles' team was the regular season runner-up in the Big South Conference in 2023. He was selected to the All-SoCon First Team in 2025. Giles was also selected to the Big South Conference All-Freshman Team back in 2023.
