Mountain Hawks’ Whitlock claims Patriot League Championship MVP honors Junior guard Nasir Whitlock (6'2''-G) led a balanced Mountain Hawks’ offense with 18 points in No. 2 Lehigh’s (18-16, 11-7 PL) 74-60 victory over No. 4 Boston University (17-17, 10-8 PL) to capture the 2026 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League men’s basketball title and the League’s automatic berth in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Whitlock scored 11 of his 18 points in the first half to help the Mountain Hawks build an insurmountable 11-point lead by the break. He was selected Patriot League Championship MVP honors after averaging 23.0 points per game in Lehigh’s three tournament wins. Sophomore forward Hank Alvey (6'9''-F/C) finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists, while junior guard Joshua Ingram (6'4''-F) posted 15 points and six boards to earn All-Tournament honors. Boston University sophomore forward Ben Defty (7'0''-F-2005) led the Terriers with 21 points and eight rebounds to earn All-Tournament honors. He was joined by freshman guard Chance Gladden (6'4''-G), who posted 11 points after hitting game-winning baskets in the Terriers first two games. Navy senior center Aidan Kehoe (6'10''-C) earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team after averaging 16.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.0 blocks in two games for the top-seeded Midshipmen. Naval Academy, was named the Player of the Year at the NCAA Division I.
He received multiple other awards, was voted the Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and was selected to the First Team and Rookie Team.
With Benigni's excellent performance, the U.S.
Naval Academy achieved the best record of the season in the league, finishing with an impressive 26 to 6 in the regular season.
Benigni was previously selected as the Regular Season Co-Runner-Up back in 2023, and chosen to the Second Team back in 2024, Academic Team back in 2024 and 2025, First Team, Tournament Team and Tournament Finalist last year.
He averaged almost 18 points and over 4 assists per game in the league.
Benigni has totalled 13 games of 20 or more points on the year.
His 34 points against the Lehigh were the most he scored in the 25 26 season.
Nasir Whitlock, guard from the Lehigh University, was honored as the All-Tournament MVP of NCAA Division I.
He collected multiple other honors, was named to the First Team and Tournament Team.
Whitlock previously earned the Tournament Finalist back in 2024.
He recorded almost 21 points and over 3 assists per game that season in the league.

Aidan Kehoe, center from the U.S.
Naval Academy, picked up the Defensive Player of the Year at the NCAA Division I.
He received multiple other awards, earned a spot in the First Team and Defensive Team and Tournament Team.
Kehoe was previously named the Regular Season Co-Runner-Up back in 2023 and Tournament Finalist last year.
His playmaking prowess was on full display as he secured the fifth position in rebounds per game averaging almost 11.
Kehoe also recorded over 15 points per game over the season in the league.
He has totalled 11 games of 20 or more points and logged double-doubles in 18 games on the year.
Kehoe's 29 points against the Holy Cross were the most he scored in the 25 26 season.
Michael McNair, guard from the Boston University, was voted to the First Team of NCAA Division I.
He was also selected to the Rookie Team.
McNair was previously voted the Regular Season Co-Runner-Up and Tournament Semifinals back in 2024.
He averaged over 17 points and 5 rebounds per game in the league.
McNair has totalled 12 games of 20 or more points and registered double-doubles in 3 games on the year.
His 29 points against the Lafayette were the most he scored in the 25 26 season.
Jalen Cox, guard from the Colgate University, was chosen to the First Team at the NCAA Division I.
He was also named to the Defensive Team.
Cox previously earned a spot in the First Team back in 2022, Regular Season Champion, Tournament Winner back in 2024 and Third Team, Defensive Team and Tournament Semifinals last year.
He notched over 17 points and 5 assists per game that season in the league.
