Kansas come back after 20 years as National Champion !!

Extremely interesting final game of the NCAA Final Four. The game ended in overtime after Kansas managed to end regular time with amazing 3-pointer by Mario Chalmers and took control of the game in overtime, where they won 75-68.
So patient for 20 years, Kansas had no problem working an extra five minutes to bring a long-awaited championship back to the heartland.
Mario Chalmers hit a 3-pointer with 2.1 seconds left in regulation to push the game into overtime, and the Jayhawks grinded it out from there for a 75-68 victory Monday night over Memphis in one of the best title games in recent memory.
The shot earned Chalmers the most outstanding player honor.
It was the first title for Kansas since 1988, when Danny Manning, now an assistant coach for the Jayhawks, led them to an upset of Oklahoma.
The most memorable performance in this one came from freshman Derrick Rose of Memphis, who completely took over the game in the second half, scoring 14 of his team's 16 points during one stretch to lift the Tigers to a 60-51 lead.
But Kansas (37-3) used the strategy any smart opponent of Memphis' would— fouling the heck out of one of the country's worst free-throw-shooting teams— and when Rose and Chris Douglas-Roberts combined to miss four of five over the last 1:12, it left the door open for KU.
Hustling the ball down the court with 10.8 seconds left and no timeouts, Sherron Collins handed off to Chalmers at the top of the 3-point line and Chalmers took the shot from the top. It hit nothing but net and tied the score at 63.

Tied at 45-45 at halftime, the Nationals went on an 11-3 run midway through the second half to take the lead for good. Georgetown's Jonathan Wallace (6'1''-G-86) started the run with a three-point goal and Will Daniels (6'8''-F-86) of Rhode Island added the next four points.

Buckeyes Best Minutemen for 2008 NIT Championship

Ohio State's Jamar Butler (6'1''-G-85) had 19 points and eight assists in his final college game, leading the Buckeyes to a 92-85 win over Massachusetts on Thursday night to capture the 2008 MasterCard NIT championship.
OSU dominated each of their four opponents on the way to New York, then had enough at the end to withstand every run the Minutemen could muster.
'This is continuing a rebuilding of the program,' Ohio State coach Thad Matta said. 'It feels good after what we went through last season.'
Kosta Koufos (7'0''-F/C-89) added 22 points in earning the tournament's Most Outstanding Player award. Evan Turner (6'6''-G/F) finished with 20 for the Buckeyes (24-13), who reached the preseason NIT title game but were run out of the Garden by Texas A&M.
Ricky Harris (6'2''-G-87) scored 27 for UMass (25-11), hitting three 3-pointers in the closing minutes to help the Minutemen stay close.
The last of them made it 77-75 with 3:13 left, but Othello Hunter scored moments later and after Harris missed another 3 try at the other end, Butler drained a 3-pointer from the wing to give Ohio State some breathing room.
Turner took care of things from the free throw line over the final minute and a half, helping the Buckeyes wrap up the title.
'I've seen this team go through a lot,' Matta said, moments before cutting down the net. 'I'm happy for them.'
Etienne Brower (6'7''-F-85, college: Boston U.), one of four players in the starting lineup who grew up in New York, had 17 points and 12 rebounds for UMass. Gary Forbes (6'7''-G/F-85, college: Virginia) finished with 16 points and six assists, and Dante Milligan (6'9''-F-84, college: Pittsburgh) scored 14.
Massachusetts dominated Ohio State on the boards, outrebounding the bigger Buckeyes 49-37 -- and corralling a startling 30 on the offensive end. But UMass figured to be in trouble when the frenetic pace that it so enjoys kept up in the second half: Ohio State was 15-1 this season when scoring at least 70 points.
Massachusetts put a scare into Ohio State from the moment the last notes of the national anthem were played, rushing the entire length of the court to shake hands with its stoic, startled Big Ten opponent.
The Minutemen kept racing once the ball was thrown up, forcing three turnovers in the first 2½ minutes and taking a 10-2 lead on a basket by Milligan.
The Buckeyes came right back, with Hunter scoring four of his 17 points to cap a 13-2 run and take a brief lead. But the Minutemen again edged ahead, and Forbes' 3-pointer with 3:50 left before halftime got the team's assistant coaches so animated the referees stopped to calm them down.
Fourteen busloads of people were ferried to New York from the UMass campus in Amherst, but they represented just a fraction of the partisan crowd. The school sold its allotment of tickets quickly, and appeared to have far more dressed in its slightly darker shade of red than its counterpart from Columbus.
