Especially interesting is good performance of Zachary Hankins (14 points), Jalen Reynolds (20 points), and Tyrique Jones (4 points).
#1. In a recent Israeli Winner League game, Zachary Hankins, a 29-year-old center standing at 6'11'' and a Xavier University graduate, showcased his skills while playing professionally for Maccabi Playtika Tel-Aviv in Israel. Facing the fifth-ranked team, Hapoel Holon, Hankins led his team to a decisive 107-93 victory on Monday night. During the game, he contributed significantly with 14 points and 3 assists in just 23 minutes of play. Maccabi Playtika Tel-Aviv, currently holding the top spot in the Places 1-8 group with a record of 24-2, secured their 19th consecutive win thanks in part to Hankins' stellar performance. His scoring prowess and playmaking abilities were crucial in clinching the victory for his team, solidifying his position as the champion of the match. Throughout the season, Hankins has been a key player for Maccabi Playtika Tel-Aviv, averaging 7.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in the 12 games he has played thus far. His consistent contributions on both ends of the court have been instrumental in his team's success, making him a standout player and a vital asset in their quest for further victories.
#2. Experienced champion Jalen Reynolds, a 6'10'' center and 33-year-old Musketeers alumnus from 2016, who currently plays professionally in Russia, was unable to lead UNICS (33-7) to victory in their recent game against the formidable CSKA team. Despite Reynolds' standout performance, UNICS suffered a 89-102 defeat on the road to the reigning champions. In the match, Reynolds showcased his skills by emerging as the top scorer with 20 points, while also contributing 8 rebounds and 4 assists in 34 minutes of play. This marked Reynolds' fourth season with the team, and he demonstrated his prowess by delivering an impressive all-around performance against the tough competition of CSKA. Throughout the season, Reynolds has maintained high-level statistics, showcasing his value to the team. He currently boasts averages of 17.6 points per game (ranking fourth best in the league), along with 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per game in the 50 games he has participated in so far. Despite his individual success, Reynolds remains focused on helping his team achieve their goals and secure victories in their quest to become finalists.
#3. Tyrique Jones, a 29-year-old center standing at 6'9'' who graduated from Xavier in 2020 and received the All-Big East Second Team award that year, currently plays professionally in Greece. In a recent game, he contributed to Olympiacos S.F.P. Piraeus's impressive 102-92 victory over the closely-ranked Panathinaikos (19-5) in the Greek Stoiximan Basketball League. Despite scoring only 4 points in 12 minutes of play, Jones played a crucial role in securing the win for his team. This highly anticipated match between two top 4 ranked teams showcased Olympiacos S.F.P. Piraeus's dominance, as they currently hold the top spot in the league with a perfect record of 24-0 in the Finals. With Jones's consistent performance, including scoring 4 points and grabbing 2 rebounds against Panathinaikos, he has been instrumental in helping his team emerge as the champion. Throughout this season, Jones has maintained an average of 9.0 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game in the 14 games he has participated in so far.
#4. Adam Kunkel, a 6'4'' guard and 26-year-old alum of the Musketeers from 2023, showcased his skills in the Spanish Primera FEB league while playing for Zunder Palencia. Despite his efforts, Kunkel and his team were unable to secure a victory against Coruna, the second-ranked team in the league. In the game, he contributed 5 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist in 14 minutes of play. Even though Kunkel displayed an impressive performance individually, Zunder Palencia ultimately fell short, losing 81-92 on Coruna's home court. Throughout the season, Kunkel has maintained solid statistics, averaging 12.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game in the 24 games he has played so far. His experience as a former Musketeers player and his contributions on the court position him as a valuable player for Zunder Palencia, despite the recent loss in the match against Coruna.
