Courtesy of Eurobasket LLC We bring you last week's top former Terriers players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
Notice impressive performance of Kasper Suurorg (11 points), Chris Hooper (6 points), and Max Egner (2 points).
#1. Estonian champion Kasper Suurorg, a 6'7'' guard at 23 years old who graduated from SFC in 2022, is currently showcasing his skills playing professionally in Poland. In a recent game, Suurorg's team, Trefl Sopot (19-11), faced off against the lower-ranked Anwil and unfortunately suffered a 79-94 loss on the road. Despite Suurorg's notable performance where he contributed as the second best scorer with 11 points in 23 minutes, Trefl Sopot faced their first defeat after a streak of four consecutive victories. With only three games remaining in the Regular Season, each upcoming game becomes crucial for the team. This season marks Suurorg's debut with Trefl Sopot, where he has been showcasing his talent with an average of 13.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game in the 25 games he has played thus far. In the recent game against Anwil, Suurorg displayed an impressive performance, scoring 11 points, securing 1 rebound, and providing 1 assist. Despite his efforts, Trefl Sopot was unable to secure the win.
#2. Experienced champion Chris Hooper, a 6'6'' power forward who is 34 years old and an alumnus of the Terriers from 2016, currently plays professionally in Argentina. Despite his best efforts, Hooper was unable to lead San Isidro (23-9) to victory over Dep Viedma (18-14) in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina (second division), where he recorded 6 points and 10 rebounds in 31 minutes of play. San Isidro, who is in second place with a record of 23-9, suffered a 67-73 defeat against the lower-ranked (#8) Dep Viedma in the Conferencia Norte, despite Hooper's strong performance on the court. This is Hooper's first season playing with the team, and he has been displaying impressive statistics this year, averaging 12.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game in the 40 games he has played so far.
#3. Max Egner, a 6'7'' forward who graduated from SFC in 2023 and helped them reach the final of the Polish 2Liga that year, is currently playing professionally in Poland. Despite his efforts, he could not lead King Szczecin to victory over Legia in the Polish Orlen Basket Liga, where they suffered an 84-88 defeat in Warszawa. This loss marked King Szczecin's first after four consecutive wins, making each remaining game crucial as they head towards the end of the Regular Season. In the game against Legia, Egner scored 2 points and provided 1 assist in just 5 minutes of play. Although his performance showcased his skills on the court, it was not enough to secure a win for his team. This season, Egner has been averaging 4.6 points per game and 2.4 rebounds per game in 27 appearances. It is noteworthy that Egner holds both American and Polish citizenship, allowing him to play in Poland as a domestic player.
#4. Jalen Cannon, a 6'6'' forward and 33-year-old Terriers alumni from 2015, who was awarded the All-NEC Player of the Year, currently plays professionally in Italy. In a recent match, Cannon, despite his best efforts, could not help Roseto, his team with a 7-30 record, to secure a victory against Cento, who held an 11-27 record in the Italian Serie A2 league, the second division in Italy. The game ended with a disappointing 83-63 loss at home for Roseto, who suffered their third consecutive defeat. Even though Cannon performed admirably, scoring 8 points and making 1 rebound and 2 assists in 31 minutes of play, his team was unable to overcome the challenge posed by the higher-ranked Cento, who held the #17 spot in the league standings. The Play-Out Round had already concluded, marking the end of the season for Roseto. Throughout the season, Cannon has maintained solid statistics, averaging 13.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game across 39 appearances. Despite the setbacks faced by his team, Cannon's performance on the court has been commendable, showcasing his skills and dedication as a professional basketball player.
