Courtesy of Eurobasket LLC We bring you last week's top former Bruins players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Experienced Ian Clark, a 6'3'' guard/forward at 35 years old, who graduated from Belmont in 2013 and received the All-OVC Co-Player of the Year award, currently plays professionally in Puerto Rico. In a recent game, he led Cangrejeros de Santurce to a resounding victory over the second-ranked Gigantes with a score of 98-79 in the Puerto Rican Baloncesto Superior Nacional. Clark's exceptional performance earned him the title of MVP of the game, as he contributed 21 points and 4 rebounds in just 27 minutes of play. This game marked his debut for Cangrejeros de Santurce in the current season. Despite his team being placed sixth in Group B, Clark's impactful presence led them to their first victory after suffering four consecutive losses. His standout performance in the game against Carolina, where he scored 21 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and provided 2 assists, was instrumental in securing the win for his team, thereby earning him the title of the champion of the game.
#2. Alex Renfroe, a 6'3'' point guard and a 39-year-old Bruins alumni from 2009, currently plays professionally in Spain. Despite his strong performance in the recent game, Renfroe was unable to lead Fuenlabrada (18-13) to victory as they lost 79-83 on the road against the higher-ranked (#3) Zunder Palencia. Renfroe, the A-Sun Player of the Year in 2009, scored 15 points, made 8 passes, and recorded 3 steals in 32 minutes, making him the second-best scorer in the game. This season marks Renfroe's first with the team, and he has been averaging 4.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game over the 24 games he has played so far. Despite his team's loss in the recent game, Renfroe put on an impressive performance by contributing 15 points, 2 rebounds, and 8 assists against Palencia. Renfroe, a naturalized Bosnian, continues to showcase his skills on the court in Spain.
#3. Grayson Murphy, a 6'2'' guard who graduated from Belmont in 2022, is currently playing professional basketball in Germany. In a recent game, he played a crucial role in Telekom Baskets Bonn's victory over the closely-ranked s Oliver Baskets with a final score of 88-81 in the German easyCredit BBL. Despite scoring 7 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, and dishing out 8 assists in just 24 minutes, Murphy's impact on the game was undeniable. Telekom Baskets Bonn, currently placed fourth in the league with a record of 21-13, has benefited greatly from Murphy's skills in his first season with the team. His noteworthy performance against Wuerzburg, where he showcased his exceptional abilities on the court, helped his team secure the win and advance as the champion of the game. Throughout this season, Murphy has been consistent, averaging 10.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.4 assists (ranking third in the league), and 1.8 steals per game (leading the league) in 36 games. As a key player for Telekom Baskets Bonn, Murphy's contributions have been instrumental in their success, solidifying his position as a standout finalist in the league.
#4. Nick Muszynski, a 6'11'' center and 27-year-old Bruins alumnus from 2022, is currently playing professionally in Belgium. In his first season with Hubo Limburg United, Muszynski showcased his skills but was unable to lead his team to victory against House of Talents. Despite scoring 8 points, grabbing 6 rebounds, and making 2 blocks in 18 minutes of play, Hubo Limburg United fell short to the higher-ranked House of Talents with a score of 86-96 in Kortrijk. Even though Muszynski delivered an impressive performance with 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist against Kortrijk, his team was unable to secure a win. Muszynski, who was a Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award Finalist in 2022, is currently averaging 5.7 points per game and 4.7 rebounds per game in three games this season.
#5. J.J. Mann, a 6'6'' small forward who is 34 years old and graduated from Belmont in 2014, currently plays professionally in Germany. Despite his best efforts, Mann could not lead VET-CONCEPT Gladiators Trier (17-17) to victory against Bayern Muenchen (29-5) in the German easyCredit BBL. This game, where Mann scored only 2 points in 3 minutes on the court, cannot be considered one of his best performances. Unfortunately, VET-CONCEPT Gladiators Trier suffered a crushing 101-80 defeat at the hands of the dominant Bayern team. This loss marked VET-CONCEPT Gladiators Trier's fifth consecutive defeat. Mann contributed 2 points and 1 rebound in the game against Bayern, but his individual performance was not enough to secure a win for his team. So far this season, Mann has been averaging 2.0 points per game in 24 appearances. Despite the challenging circumstances, Mann continues to give his best on the court as he strives to help his team achieve success in the league.
