#1. French champion Yannis Mendy, a 6'8'' forward who is 30 years old and graduated from RMU in 2020 after helping them win the NEC Tournament that year, currently plays professionally in France. Recently, Mendy was unable to lead FOS Provence Basket (26-14) to victory over Mulhouse (27-13) in the French Nationale Masculine 1, the third division of French basketball. Despite his team's loss, Mendy contributed 8 points in 26 minutes of play. In a challenging matchup, third-placed FOS Provence Basket faced a tough 79-54 defeat on the road against second-ranked Mulhouse in Group A. Mendy displayed a commendable performance during the game, showcasing his skills by scoring 8 points, securing 3 rebounds, and providing 1 assist. However, despite his individual efforts, his team could not secure the win. Throughout the current season, Mendy has maintained an average of 4.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game across 40 games played so far.
#2. Italian Mattia Acunzo, a 25-year-old power forward standing at 6'8'' and an alumnus of Colonials in 2022, showcased his skills in Montecatini's recent victory against the sixth-ranked Treviglio in the Italian Serie B Nazionale. In a noteworthy performance, he scored 7 points and secured 9 rebounds in just 12 minutes of play, proving to be a crucial contributor to his team's success. Montecatini, currently ranked fourth in Group A with a record of 25-11, benefitted greatly from Acunzo's exceptional play against Treviglio, ultimately leading them to triumph in the matchup. His remarkable display on the court rightfully earned him the title of champion in that particular game. Throughout the season, Acunzo has maintained solid statistics, averaging 11.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game across 42 appearances.
#3. Italian Alfredo Boglio, standing at 6'3'' and 23 years old, a recent graduate of RMU in 2024, showcased his talent as a professional basketball player in Italy. Playing for Elachem Vigevano 1955, Boglio played a crucial role in their recent victory against the fourth-ranked Livorno Pielle in the Italian Serie B Nazionale. In this thrilling match, Vigevano emerged victorious with a score of 93-83, with Boglio's standout performance being a key factor in the win. Recording 17 points, 2 rebounds, and 7 assists in just 33 minutes of play, Boglio's impact on the court was undeniable. Despite only being in his second season of professional basketball, Boglio displayed remarkable skill and composure in the game. His contribution to the team's success highlighted his potential as a rising star in the sport. Currently, Vigevano 1955 holds the top spot in Group A, with Boglio making significant contributions in his first year with the team. Throughout the season, Boglio has maintained solid statistics, averaging 11.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game across 40 games. His consistent performance and ability to deliver under pressure further solidify his reputation as a true champion on the court, poised for continued success in his basketball career.
