Courtesy of Eurobasket LLC We bring you last week's top former Terriers players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Sukhmail Mathon, a 6'10'' center who graduated from Boston University in 2022 and received the All-Patriot League Player of the Year award that same year, currently showcases his skills as a professional player in Slovenia. In a recent game, Mathon, despite his commendable performance, couldn't prevent his team Krka (26-1) from suffering a significant 87-71 defeat at the hands of Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana, the league's #11 team. Even though Mathon displayed remarkable prowess by scoring 20 points, securing 6 rebounds, and contributing 3 assists during his 33 minutes on the court against Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana, his efforts were not enough to secure a victory for Krka. Throughout this season, Mathon has maintained solid statistics, averaging 11.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game in the 32 games he has played so far. His consistent performance on the court highlights his potential as a champion player.
#2. Experienced champion John Holland, a 6'5'' small forward who is 37 years old and an alum of the Terriers from 2011, currently plays professionally in Puerto Rico. Despite his skills, the seasoned player was unable to assist the Santeros de Aguada (11-12) in their recent game. The third-placed Aguada team was narrowly defeated 90-88 on the road by the leading Atleticos in Group A, despite Holland's commendable performance of scoring 12 points in just 16 minutes on the court. This season marks Holland's first with the team. In a standout game against San German, Holland showcased his talent by scoring 12 points, securing 3 rebounds, and providing 2 assists. However, despite his noteworthy contributions, his team ultimately fell short of victory. Throughout this season, Holland has maintained averages of 8.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game over seven games played. Notably, Holland holds both American and Puerto Rican citizenship, allowing him to compete in Puerto Rico as a domestic player, enhancing his versatility and value to the team.
#3. Javante McCoy, a 6'5'' guard who is 28 years old and a graduate of Boston University in 2022, has been making waves in the professional basketball scene in Israel. Although he couldn't lead E. Netanya to victory in their recent game, where they suffered a narrow 83-87 defeat at home to Galil Elion, McCoy put on a commendable performance. In that game, he contributed 11 points and 4 assists in just 25 minutes on the court. Despite McCoy's consistent high-level play, E. Netanya has faced some challenges recently, with this loss marking their fourth consecutive defeat. McCoy's standout performance against Galil Elion showcased his skills, as he notched 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. His impressive individual season statistics reflect his impactful presence on the court, averaging 17.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game over the course of 10 games.
