#1. Chris Horton, a 31-year-old center standing at 6'8'' who graduated from Austin Peay in 2016, is currently playing professionally in Italy. Despite his impressive performance, where he contributed 9 points and 8 rebounds in 20 minutes of play, he could not lead Umana Reyer Venezia (19-9) to victory against Tortona (17-11) in the Italian Serie A. The team ended up losing 71-82 on the road to the lower-ranked (#5) Tortona. This season, Horton has been averaging 8.0 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game in the 27 games he has played so far.
#2. Venezuelan champion Carlos Paez, a 26-year-old point guard standing at 5'11'' and an alum of the Lions in 2025, previously played for Austin Peay from 2019 to 2023. He was recognized with the CSC NCAA Division I Academic All-District Team award during his time at Austin Peay. Currently, Paez is playing professionally in Venezuela. In a recent game, Paez, despite his best efforts, could not lead his team, Brillantes, to victory over the formidable Gaiteros in the Venezuelan Superliga Profesional de Baloncesto. The game ended with Gaiteros emerging as the finalist with a commanding 100-76 victory over Brillantes in Maracaibo. This defeat marked Brillantes' first loss following three consecutive wins. During the game, Paez showcased his skills by contributing 7 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists in 19 minutes of play. Despite his impressive performance, Brillantes was unable to secure the win against the strong Gaiteros team. Throughout this season, Paez has maintained an average of 10.0 points per game, along with 2.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 27 games. His dedication and talent on the court continue to make him a key player for his team, aiming to achieve further success in the league.
