Every week we bring you a list of the top former Blue Raiders players who continue their career in pro basketball.
Look at great performance of DeAndre Dishman (23 points), JaCorey Williams (18 points), and Perrin Buford (28 points).
#1. DeAndre Dishman, a 6'6'' forward who graduated from MTSU in 2023 and received the C-USA All-Tournament Team award, is currently playing professionally in Romania. In a recent game for SCMU Craiova against Dinamo Bucuresti, Dishman played a pivotal role in his team's thrilling 105-101 victory. Despite only being in his third season in professional basketball, Dishman showcased his skills by recording a double-double with 23 points and 12 rebounds in just 31 minutes of play. This standout performance was crucial in securing the win for his team in a highly contested match between two top 4 ranked teams in the league.
SCMU Craiova, currently placed fourth in the Romanian Liga Nationala Baschet de Masculin with a record of 17-11, has been on a winning streak, with this victory marking their third consecutive triumph. Dishman, in his first year with the team, has been a key player, consistently delivering strong performances on the court. His remarkable display against Dinamo Bucuresti not only helped secure the win but also earned him the prestigious Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, solidifying his status as a champion in the game.
Throughout the season, Dishman has been averaging 9.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game, showcasing his versatility and impact on the team. As he continues to excel in his professional basketball career in Romania, Dishman's skills and dedication are proving him to be a formidable player and a true finalist in the league.
#2. JaCorey Williams, a 31-year-old 6'8'' center and Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders alumni from 2017, who was awarded the All-C-USA Player of the Year that year, is currently playing professionally in Israel. In a recent game, he played a crucial role in Maccabi Raanana's victory over the second-ranked E. Netanya with a score of 95-79 in the Israeli Winner League. Williams showcased his skills by scoring 18 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, and providing 1 assist in just 22 minutes of play. This victory helped Maccabi Raanana, currently ranked fourth in the Places 11-14 group with a record of 6-20, in their pursuit of success. With only four games remaining in the Play-Out Round, every game is of utmost importance for the team. This season marks Williams' first with Maccabi Raanana, and his performance against E. Netanya highlights his talent and determination as a champion. Throughout the season, Williams has maintained solid statistics, averaging 11.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.
#3. Perrin Buford, a 6'6'' forward who graduated from MTSU in 2016, has been making waves in the Indonesian Basketball League as a member of Pelita Jaya. His exceptional skills were on full display during a recent game against Dewa United, where he led his team to a decisive 93-79 victory. Buford's stellar performance earned him the title of MVP, as he achieved a rare triple-double by scoring 28 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, and dishing out 12 assists in the course of 40 minutes of play.
This game marked a showdown between two top 4 ranked teams, with Pelita Jaya Bakrie Jakarta currently sitting at the top of the league with an impressive record of 18-2. Buford's standout display not only secured the win for his team but also caught the attention of fans and analysts alike. In recognition of his remarkable achievement, he was awarded the Triple-Double Badge by eurobasket.com, highlighting his prowess as a champion player.
Throughout the season, Buford has consistently delivered outstanding performances, boasting impressive averages of 20.7 points, 9.6 rebounds, 9.9 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. His contributions on the court have undoubtedly been instrumental in Pelita Jaya's success, further solidifying his reputation as a finalist player in the league.
#4. Experienced player Raymond Cintron, standing at 6 feet tall and at the age of 36, is an alumnus of the Blue Raiders, having graduated in 2013. During his time with the team, he played a pivotal role in helping them secure the Sun Belt East Division Regular Season Champion title in that same year. Currently, Cintron is playing professionally in Puerto Rico.
In a recent game, Cintron, representing the Osos de Manati, faced off against the Santeros in the Puerto Rican Baloncesto Superior Nacional. Despite his best efforts, Cintron's team, the Osos de Manati, fell short against the Santeros, with a final score of 106-105 in favor of the higher-ranked Santeros, who hold the #3 spot in Group B. Cintron managed to contribute 6 points in 23 minutes of play during the game.
In another match against Aguada, Cintron showcased his skills on the court by scoring 6 points, grabbing 2 rebounds, and providing 1 assist. However, despite his impressive performance, his team was unable to secure the victory.
Throughout the season, Cintron has been averaging 2.7 points per game. It is important to note that he holds dual citizenship, being both American and Puerto Rican, which allows him to play in Puerto Rico as a domestic player.
