Here is the weekly review of the top performing Aztecs alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. Malachi Flynn, a 6'1'' guard who graduated from SDSU in 2020 and received the All-MWC Player of the Year award that year, is currently playing professionally in Turkey. In a recent game, he was a key contributor in Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul's victory over the closely-ranked Trabzonspor with a score of 94-78 in the Turkish ING Basketbol Super Ligi. During the game, Flynn showcased his skills by scoring 24 points, making 5 assists, and playing for 28 minutes on the court. Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul, with a record of 21-9, holds the third position in the league standings. This season marks Flynn's debut with the team, and his performance against Trabzonspor demonstrated his ability to make a significant impact on the game. His impressive stats, averaging 15.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in the 29 games he has played so far, highlight his strong contributions to the team's success. Flynn's outstanding performance on the court undoubtedly played a crucial role in helping his team emerge as the champion.

   #2. Matt Mitchell, a 27-year-old 6'7'' forward and Aztecs alumnus from 2021, who received the All-MWC All-Tournament MVP award that year, currently plays professionally in Turkey. He is teammates with the aforementioned Malachi Flynn. Recently, in a game against the closely-ranked Trabzonspor (19-11) in the Turkish ING Basketbol Super Ligi, Mitchell made a significant contribution to his team's dominant 91-65 victory. In just 26 minutes of play, he scored 8 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul, his team, is currently placed third in the league standings. Mitchell's standout performance against Trabzonspor showcased his skills on the court, as he not only scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds but also provided 2 assists to help secure the win for his team. His exceptional display exemplified why he is considered a true champion. Throughout the current season, Mitchell has been averaging 5.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game across 32 games, demonstrating his consistent contributions to his team's success.

   #3. Jay Pal, a 6'9'' forward who graduated from SDSU in 2024 and led them to the final of the MWC Tournament that year, is currently playing professionally in Mexico. In a recent game for Frayles de Guasave, he played a crucial role in their victory over the eighth-ranked Pioneros Los Mochis, scoring 15 points, securing 7 rebounds, and providing 3 assists in just 26 minutes of play. This standout performance is particularly impressive considering he is only in his second season in professional basketball. As a key player for Frayles de Guasave, Pal's efforts have helped the team reach second place in the league standings. His consistent performance throughout the season, averaging 12.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game in 44 appearances, showcases his talent and contribution to the team. Additionally, it is noteworthy that Pal is a naturalized South Sudanese player, adding to the diversity and skill set he brings to the court. His exceptional display in the recent game against Los Mochis was pivotal in securing the victory for his team and ultimately leading them to triumph as the champion.
