Here is the weekly review of the top performing Jaguars alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.
Notice impressive performance of Augustine Rubit (17 points), Georgi Boyanov (22 points), and Isiah Gaiter (10 points).
#1. Experienced champion Augustine Rubit, a 6'8'' forward/center who is 36 years old and graduated from the USA in 2014, currently plays professionally in Spain. In a recent game, Rubit, despite his very good performance, could not help Unicaja Malaga (17-17) secure a victory. Unicaja was narrowly defeated 92-89 on the road by the second-ranked Baskonia, with Rubit emerging as the top scorer for his team with 17 points and contributing 4 rebounds in just 23 minutes on the court.
Rubit's team has only one more game left in the Regular Season, and this upcoming game holds significant importance. This marks Rubit's first season with the team, and he has shown promise with an impressive performance in the recent game against Baskonia, showcasing his skills by scoring 17 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, and providing 2 assists. Despite his notable efforts, the team was unable to secure a win.
Throughout the season, Rubit has maintained an average of 6.4 points per game and 2.1 rebounds per game in the 21 games he has played so far. His contributions on the court have been valuable, and all eyes will be on him as he aims to lead his team to success in the upcoming critical game.
#2. Bulgarian champion Georgi Boyanov, standing at 6'7'' and 33 years old, is a former Jaguars alumni from 2017 who currently plays professionally in Bulgaria. In the recent game, he was unable to assist Cherno More (22-8) as they suffered a 94-100 defeat at home to the leading Rilski. Despite his exceptional performance, scoring 22 points and grabbing 9 rebounds in 31 minutes, Boyanov's team was unable to secure the win. This season marks Boyanov's first with the team, and he has been delivering consistent performances throughout. With an average of 13.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in 37 appearances, Boyanov has been a key player for Cherno More.
#3. Isiah Gaiter, a 6'3'' guard who graduated in the USA in 2024 and currently plays professionally in Puerto Rico, unfortunately could not assist his team, the Indios de Mayaguez (8-14), in their recent game. Despite his solid performance, the fourth-placed Mayaguez team suffered a defeat to the second-ranked Capitanes in Group A, with a final score of 85-95 in Arecibo.
During the game, Gaiter managed to score 10 points and provide 3 assists in just 15 minutes of play. However, this effort was not enough to secure a victory for his team, resulting in Indios de Mayaguez's sixth consecutive loss.
Gaiter showcased a commendable performance against Arecibo, contributing 10 points, 1 rebound, and 3 assists. Despite his individual achievements, the team was unable to clinch the win. Throughout this year, Gaiter has been averaging 4.6 points per game and 1.5 assists per game over the course of 14 games.
#4. Samuel Tabe, a towering 6'5'' forward and Jaguars alumni from 2024, is currently playing professionally in Denmark. Recently, Tabe found himself unable to lead Naestved to a victory in their matchup against the formidable Bakken Bears, who hold a strong record of 26-6 in the Danish BasketLigaen. Despite his best efforts, Tabe managed to contribute 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist during his 17 minutes on the court. This game marked his first season with the team.
In this intense showdown between the second-placed Naestved (25-7) and the leading Bakken Bears, the final score was 81-87 in favor of the Bears on Naestved's home court. Tabe's performance was notable, showcasing his skills with those 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist. Although Tabe has been consistently delivering solid stats throughout the season - averaging 13.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game in 39 appearances - his individual efforts were not enough to secure a win for Naestved against the champion Bakken Bears.
