Every week we bring you a list of the top former Pirates players who continue their career in pro basketball.
Look at great performance of C.J. Walker (27 points), Alanzo Frink (10 points), and Brandon Johnson (5 points).
#1. C.J. Walker, a 6'8'' forward who graduated from ECU in 2025 and received the All-AAC First Team award that year, is currently playing professionally in Israel. In a recent game, he led Elitzur Yavne to a victory over the third-ranked M. Kiryat Gat with a score of 80-70 in the Israeli National League, which is the second division of basketball in Israel. Walker's exceptional performance earned him the MVP title of the game as he recorded a double-double with 27 points and 13 rebounds. Additionally, he contributed 5 assists, 2 blocks, and 3 steals in 38 minutes of play. This remarkable display of skill is even more impressive considering it is only Walker's first season in professional basketball. Elitzur Yavne, currently placed fourth in the Play-Out group with a record of 9-21, finished the Play-Out Round.
Against M. Kiryat Gat, Walker showcased his talent by scoring 27 points, grabbing 13 rebounds, and dishing out 5 assists, ultimately leading his team to victory. His stellar performance earned him the Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, further solidifying his status as a champion. Throughout the season, Walker has maintained high statistics, averaging 20.2 points per game, 8.6 rebounds per game, 1.7 assists per game, 1.1 blocks per game, and 1.1 steals per game. Walker's exceptional skills and contributions on the court continue to demonstrate why he is considered a finalist.
#2. In the recent game last Friday, Dominican Republic's Alanzo Frink, a 6'8'' forward aged 26 and an alum of the Pirates from 2022 who currently plays professionally in the Dominican Republic, was unable to lead his team, the Reales, to victory. The Reales, with a record of 8-8, suffered a 95-82 defeat on the road against the top-seeded Metros. Despite his commendable efforts, Frink managed to score 10 points in 25 minutes of play.
With only one more game left in the Regular Season, the upcoming match holds significant importance for Frink and his team. Despite his strong performance against the Metros, where he contributed 10 points and 3 rebounds, the Reales were unable to secure a win. Throughout this season, Frink has maintained an average of 6.7 points per game and 3.4 rebounds per game.
#3. Brandon Johnson, a 24-year-old forward standing at 6'8'' who graduated from Miami, FL in 2025, previously played for ECU between 2021 and 2024 before turning pro in Israel. In a recent match, he was unable to lead H.Gilboa Galil (15-11) to victory against Hapoel Jerusalem (18-8) in the Israeli Winner League, with his team suffering a narrow 77-75 defeat at home. Despite Johnson's solid contribution of 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist in 23 minutes of play, H.Gilboa Galil experienced their sixth consecutive loss, highlighting the critical nature of the remaining two games in the Regular Season. Johnson has maintained respectable season averages of 10.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game, showcasing his talent on the court.
#4. Experienced Maurice Kemp, a 6'8'' power forward aged 35 and an alumnus of the Pirates from 2013, currently plays professionally in Israel. In a recent game, he assisted Elitzur BRIGA Netanya to a hard-fought 83-79 victory over the eighth-ranked Hapoel Beer Sheva (10-16) in the Israeli Winner League on Wednesday night. Despite scoring just 4 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, and providing 3 assists in 23 minutes of play, Kemp's contribution was instrumental in his team's success.
Elitzur BRIGA Netanya, currently positioned at 12th in the league with a record of 7-19, secured their first win after enduring four consecutive losses. This victory was a significant achievement for Kemp and his team, especially considering it came after the conclusion of the Regular Season.
Kemp's overall performance throughout the season has been commendable, with stats showing an average of 13.4 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game, 2.6 assists per game, and 1.4 steals per game. His consistent contributions on the court have undoubtedly played a crucial role in solidifying his reputation as a champion.
#5. Kentrell Barkley, a 6'5'' small forward who graduated from ECU in 2018 and currently plays professionally in Indonesia, played a crucial role in Kesatria's narrow victory over the third-ranked Borneo team (14-6) with a final score of 82-81 in the Indonesian Basketball League on Saturday night. Barkley, the MVP of the game, displayed an exceptional performance by scoring an impressive 33 points and grabbing 8 rebounds in 38 minutes of play. Kesatria Bengawan Solo, currently ranked seventh in the league, achieved their third consecutive victory with Barkley's remarkable contributions.
In the game against Borneo, Barkley's 33 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists were instrumental in securing the win for his team, ultimately leading them to be crowned the champion of the match. Throughout the season, Barkley has consistently excelled with impressive statistics, averaging 24.2 points per game, 14.4 rebounds per game (leading the league), 4.2 assists per game, 1.2 blocks per game, and 1.4 steals per game. His outstanding performance on the court has undoubtedly elevated him to the status of a finalist in the league.
#6. James Legan, a former Pirates alumni from 2009 and current professional player in Australia, showcased his skills as the main contributor in a significant victory for Warrandyte Venom. In a thrilling derby game against Melbourne Uni in the Australian Big V Conference, Legan's stellar performance led his team to a 103-86 triumph. The 39-year-old guard, standing at 6'3'', was named the Most Valuable Player of the game after scoring 21 points, securing 5 rebounds, and providing 3 assists in 33 minutes on the court.
Legan's remarkable display of 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists against Melbourne Uni not only highlighted his individual excellence but also played a crucial role in securing the championship for his team as the champion. Throughout the season, Legan has consistently delivered impressive performances, averaging 19.3 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game, and 2.8 assists per game, solidifying his position as a standout player in the league.
#7. Liberian Prince Williams, a 6'5'' guard at 33 years old and an East Carolina University graduate from 2016, currently excelling in the TBL, showcased his skills as a standout player for the Raleigh Firebirds in their recent 109-97 victory over the Kissimmee Lambs in The Basketball League. In a stellar performance, he was named the MVP of the game after scoring 19 points, securing 2 rebounds, and providing 4 assists in just 23 minutes of play. His exceptional efforts were pivotal in securing the win for his team.
Williams, who received the All-AAC Most Improved Player of the Year award in 2016, has been a key contributor this season, boasting averages of 8.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. Notably, he holds dual American and Liberian citizenship, allowing him the flexibility to compete in Liberia as a domestic player. His remarkable talent and versatility on the court make him a valuable asset for any team he represents.
#8. Canadian player Jabari Craig, a 6'10'' center and 30-year-old Pirates alumnus from 2018, showcased his skills in the TBL by contributing significantly to Tri-City Tide's recent triumph over the DC Heat with a score of 116-106. In a 17-minute appearance, Craig displayed his prowess by recording 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks. His notable performance, including 8 points and 8 rebounds against the DC Heat, proved instrumental in his team's victory, ultimately leading them to be crowned as the champion. Throughout the season, Craig has been maintaining an average of 4.8 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game, solidifying his valuable contribution to his team's success.
