Top Virginia Military Institute alumni playing currently pro basketball

Every week we bring you a list of the top former Keydets players who continue their career in pro basketball.
Notice impressive performance of Sean Conway (37 points), Jake Stephens (5 points), and Stan Okoye (2 points).
#1. In the recent game, the talented basketball player Sean Conway, standing at 6'5'' and 25 years old, showcased his skills for the Perth Redbacks. Despite his impressive performance, scoring 37 points and grabbing 5 rebounds in just 30 minutes of play, the ninth-placed Perth Redbacks ultimately fell short by a single point, losing 106-105 to the lower-ranked Magic team, currently at the 13th spot in the West group standings. This defeat marked the third consecutive loss for the Perth Redbacks.
Having graduated from St. John's in 2024, Sean Conway honed his skills during his time at VMI between 2019 and 2023 before transitioning to professional basketball in Australia. Remarkably, this is only Conway's second season in the professional basketball scene, making his standout performance even more noteworthy.
In a previous game against Mandurah M., Conway continued to shine, scoring 37 points, securing 5 rebounds, and contributing 2 assists. Despite his remarkable individual efforts, the team, unfortunately, couldn't clinch the win.
Sean Conway has been having an exceptional season, boasting impressive averages of 21.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.4 steals per game in the nine games he has played thus far. His remarkable skills and contributions on the court continue to make him a standout champion in the making.
#2. Jake Stephens, a 26-year-old center standing at 7'0'' and a former Mocs alumnus from 2023, previously played at VMI between 2018 and 2022 where he received the All-SoCon First Team award. Currently, he is playing professionally in Croatia. In a recent match, Stephens proved to be instrumental in KK Split's victory over the closely-ranked Cibona with a score of 83-78 in the Croatian Favbet Premijer Liga. Despite playing for only 16 minutes, he managed to contribute significantly by scoring 5 points and grabbing 7 rebounds.
This highly anticipated game featured two of the top 4 ranked teams in the league, with KK Split (25-8) positioned third. Stephens, in his debut season with the team, showcased his skills and prowess on the court against Cibona. His impressive performance not only helped secure the win for KK Split but also underscored his reputation as a finalist.
Throughout the season, Stephens has maintained an average of 9.2 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game in the 36 games he has participated in so far. His consistent contributions have been invaluable to his team's success, further solidifying his position as a key player and a champion.
#3. Experienced Nigerian Stan Okoye, a 6'6'' small forward at 35 years old, graduated from VMI in 2013 and received the All-Big South Conference Player of the Year award. Currently playing professionally in Spain, he recently contributed to MoraBanc Andorra's resounding 116-88 victory over closely-ranked Lleida (12-21) in the Spanish Liga Endesa on Sunday night.
Despite scoring only 2 points in 13 minutes of play, Okoye's impact was felt as his team emerged victorious. MoraBanc Andorra, currently placed 16th in the league with a record of 10-23, has only one more crucial game in the Regular Season.
In the game against Lleida, Okoye managed to score 2 points and secure 2 rebounds, proving instrumental in helping his team secure the win and move one step closer to potentially becoming the champion. Throughout this season, Okoye has maintained an average of 8.3 points per game and 3.4 rebounds per game in the 27 games he has played so far.
It is worth noting that Okoye is a naturalized Nigerian player, bringing his valuable skills and experience to the Spanish league. His performance and contributions will be crucial as his team strives towards the final stages of the competition.
#4. Gregory Parham, a 6'4'' guard who is 27 years old, is a Jaguars alumnus from 2023. He previously played at VMI between 2017 and 2021, where he received the All-SoCon Second Team award during his time there. Currently, he is playing professionally in Spain. In a recent game, he played a significant role in Oviedo's victory over Gipuzkoa with a score of 82-75 in the Spanish Primera FEB (second division). Parham contributed 6 points and 1 assist in 20 minutes of play, helping his team secure the win.
Alimerka Oviedo Baloncesto, with a record of 19-13, is currently ranked fifth in the league standings. Parham's performance was crucial in his team's third consecutive victory, highlighting his skills and determination as a champion. Throughout the season, he has maintained solid statistics averaging 12.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game in 35 appearances. His consistent contributions on the court reflect his dedication and talent as a finalist.
