We bring you last week's top former Crusaders players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
Notice impressive performance of Alec Peters (16 points), Kevion Taylor (15 points), and Ben Krikke (13 points).
#1. Alec Peters, a 6'9'' power forward aged 31, who graduated from Valpo in 2017 and received the All-Horizon League Player of the Year award, currently plays professionally in Greece. In a recent game, he proved to be a major contributor in Olympiacos' triumph over the closely-ranked Real Madrid with a score of 92-85 in the Euroleague on Sunday night. Peters showcased his skills by scoring 16 points, securing 7 rebounds, and providing 2 assists in just 21 minutes of play.
The match was a highly anticipated showdown between two top 4 ranked teams, with Olympiacos S.F.P. Piraeus (26-12) currently holding the top spot in the league standings. This victory marked his team's fourth consecutive win, demonstrating their strong form. Peters, who is in his fourth season with the team, displayed an outstanding performance against Real Madrid, reinforcing his reputation as a true champion on the court.
Throughout the season, Peters has been averaging 7.5 points per game and 2.8 rebounds per game, showcasing his consistent contribution to the team's success.
#2. Kevion Taylor, a 6'5'' guard/forward and 27-year-old Crusaders alumnus from 2022, currently playing professionally in Israel, found himself unable to lift Hapoel Holon (15-11) to victory in their recent game last Tuesday. Despite Taylor's strong performance, Hapoel Holon suffered a 110-104 defeat on the road against the lower-ranked Ramat Gan (#9). Taylor contributed 15 points and 5 assists in 31 minutes on the court.
With only two games remaining in the Regular Season, each match becomes increasingly crucial for the team. Despite his notable effort against Ramat Gan, where he scored 15 points, secured 1 rebound, and provided 5 assists, Taylor's team was unable to secure the win.
Throughout the season, Taylor has maintained relatively solid statistics, averaging 11.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. As the Regular Season draws to a close, Taylor's performance will be pivotal in determining Hapoel Holon's success in their quest to become champion.
#3. Canadian Ben Krikke, a 6'9'' center/forward aged 25, graduated from Iowa in 2024 after playing for Valpo from 2019 to 2023. During his time at Valpo, he received the MVC All-Most Improved Team award. Currently, Krikke is playing professionally in Lithuania. In a recent game, Krikke's team Jonava (9-23) faced off against the formidable Zalgiris and suffered a 90-75 defeat at home. Despite his strong performance, Krikke was unable to lead Jonava to victory. He emerged as the second-highest scorer of the game, contributing 13 points, along with 5 rebounds and 3 assists, during his 28 minutes on the court. Although Krikke showcased his skills impressively, the team could not secure a win. Throughout the season, Krikke has maintained solid statistics, averaging 11.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.
#4. Quinton Green, a 27-year-old guard standing at 6'7'' and an alumnus of the Crusaders class of 2023, showcased his skills while playing professionally in Austria for the HEFTE HELFEN Bulls Kapfenberg. In their recent game against the Gunners, despite Green's strong performance where he scored 18 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 32 minutes, the Bulls Kapfenberg, who are currently the top team with a record of 21-9, were narrowly defeated 79-76 by the Gunners, who are in second place in the Places 1-6 group.
Green's efforts on the court were commendable, with his impressive contribution of 18 points and 4 rebounds against the Gunners. His individual season performance has been remarkable, averaging 17.5 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per game.
