We bring you last week's top former Yellow Jackets players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
Look at great performance of Moses Wright (18 points), Marcus Georges-Hunt (25 points), and Brandon Alston (12 points).
#1. Moses Wright, a towering 6'10'' center aged 27, who graduated from Georgia Tech in 2021 and received the prestigious All-ACC Player of the Year award that same year, currently showcases his basketball prowess playing professionally in Lithuania. In a recent game, he led his team, Zalgiris, to a resounding 102-82 victory over Jonava, one of the league's less competitive teams with a record of 9-23. Wright's stellar performance earned him the title of MVP of the game, as he contributed 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks in just 19 minutes of play.
Zalgiris Kaunas, with a remarkable record of 31-1, stands proudly at the top of the league, with Wright playing a key role in their success. The victory against Jonava marked the team's 27th consecutive win, a testament to their dominance in the league. Notably, this is Wright's debut season with Zalgiris, where he has been making a significant impact both on and off the court.
Wright's impressive statistics further highlight his contribution to the team's success, as he boasts an average of 9.0 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game this season. His outstanding performance in the recent game not only secured a victory for Zalgiris but also demonstrated his skills and determination as a true champion on the basketball court.
#2. U.S. Virgin Islands champion Marcus Georges-Hunt, a 6'5'' forward and 32-year-old Yellow Jackets alum from 2016, who received the All-ACC Third Team award that year, is currently playing professionally in Lebanon. In a recent game last Sunday, despite his strong performance, he was unable to help Al Riyadi (19-1) secure a victory. The league-leading Al Riyadi was narrowly defeated 126-125 by the lower-ranked Homentmen (#6) in a highly contested derby match.
Georges-Hunt showcased his skills by scoring 25 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and providing 9 assists during the game, which lasted 44 minutes. This game marked his debut for Al Riyadi this season. With only two games remaining in the Regular Season, each upcoming match holds significant importance for the team.
Even though Georges-Hunt delivered an outstanding performance against Homentmen, his contributions of 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assists were not enough to secure a victory for his team. Despite the loss, Georges-Hunt's efforts on the court were commendable.
It is worth noting that Georges-Hunt is a naturalized Virgin Islander and continues to showcase his talents on the basketball court as a professional player.
#3. Brandon Alston, a 6'5'' guard who is 31 years old and a graduate of Georgia Tech in 2019, currently plays professionally in Mexico. Despite his efforts, Alston, a finalist, could not help Caballeros de Culiacan (18-22) in their recent game last Saturday. The team suffered a tough loss on the road against the leading Astros, with a final score of 112-84. Alston played for 24 minutes and managed to score 12 points. His performance against the Astros was noteworthy, as he not only scored 12 points but also contributed 2 rebounds and 2 assists. However, despite his individual performance, Culiacan was unable to secure the victory. Throughout this season, Alston has been averaging 6.0 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.
#4. Javian McCollum, a 24-year-old guard standing at 6'2'' and an alumnus of the Yellow Jackets from 2025, showcased his talent by leading ZZ Leiden to a decisive victory over Leeuwarden in the Dutch Basketball League. In this matchup between two top 4 ranked teams, McCollum's performance was particularly noteworthy, as he scored 18 points, secured 2 rebounds, and provided 3 assists in 35 minutes of play. This remarkable display of skill is even more impressive considering it is his first season playing professional basketball.
McCollum's impact on the game was undeniable, with his stellar contributions playing a key role in ZZ Leiden's triumph, establishing them as the champions of the match. This victory highlights McCollum's ability to excel under pressure and make significant contributions to his team's success.
Throughout the season, McCollum has maintained solid statistics, averaging 14.0 points per game, along with 1.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists. His consistent performance on the court has undoubtedly been instrumental in ZZ Leiden's success, positioning them as strong contenders in the league.
#5. Puerto Rican Joseph Alvarado, a 6'0'' point guard aged 28 who graduated from Georgia Tech in 2021 and received the All-ACC Defensive Player of the Year award that same year, currently plays professionally in the NBA. Recently, he played a crucial role in helping the New York Knicks secure a dominant victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers with a score of 130-93 on Monday night. Despite only scoring 4 points in 11 minutes of play, Alvarado's contribution was instrumental in his team's resounding win. The New York Knicks, with a somewhat modest 54-29 record this season, achieved their fifth consecutive victory with this game.
Alvarado showcased his skills by scoring 4 points and providing 2 assists against the Cleveland Cavaliers, playing a key role in ensuring his team's success and leading them to emerge as the champion of the match. His remarkable performance on the court significantly influenced the outcome of the game. Throughout this season, Alvarado has been maintaining an average of 5.9 points per game, 1.7 rebounds per game, and 2.9 assists per game.
#6. Senegalese champion Abdoulaye Gueye, a 31-year-old former Yellow Jackets alumni from 2019 who currently plays professionally in Lebanon, made his debut for Al Markaziyyah last Saturday. Despite his commendable effort, Al Markaziyyah, with a record of 12-8, suffered a heavy defeat of 99-73 against the second-ranked Sagesse in Beirut. Gueye showcased his skills by achieving a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in just 30 minutes of play. Although he put on an impressive performance with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists against the Sagesse team, his team fell short in the end and lost the game.
