Every week we bring you a list of the top former Coyotes players who continue their career in pro basketball.
Notice impressive performance of Kruz Perrott-Hunt (22 points), Tyler Peterson (5 points), and Rich Polanco (14 points).
#1. Champion New Zealand guard Kruz Perrott-Hunt, standing at 6'3'' and 25 years old, a graduate of South Dakota in 2020, and currently playing professionally in New Zealand, unfortunately could not lead his team, the Nelson Giants, to victory in their recent game against the Hawks, who are currently ranked at the bottom of the league. Despite Perrott-Hunt's exceptional performance, scoring 22 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and providing 5 assists in 32 minutes, the Giants were defeated 102-96 on the road.
Even though the Giants suffered a loss, Perrott-Hunt's individual performance on the court was impressive, showcasing his skills with a stellar display of scoring, rebounding, and playmaking. Throughout the season, he has maintained high statistics, averaging 21.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, establishing himself as a standout player in the league.
#2. Tyler Peterson, a 6'4'' guard and 28-year-old Coyotes alumnus from 2020, currently playing professionally in Hungary, made a significant impact in Falco-Vulcano Energia KC Szombathely's recent victory over the fifth-ranked Szolnok in the Hungarian Nemzeti Bajnoksag I/A. He contributed 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists in just 14 minutes of play, showcasing his versatility and skill on the court.
Falco-Vulcano Energia KC Szombathely, currently placed sixth in the Play-Off group, greatly benefited from Peterson's performance against Szolnok, as he played a crucial role in securing their win with his impressive stats. Peterson's consistent contributions this season, averaging 6.7 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, highlight his value to the team and reinforce his reputation as a true champion and finalist.
#3. Dominican Republic's talented player, Rich Polanco, standing at 6'8'' and at 28 years old, who graduated from the University of South Dakota in 2020, currently plays professionally in the Dominican Republic. In a recent game in the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto, Polanco led his team, Marineros, to a decisive 100-93 victory over the Leones, a team struggling at 5-10 in the league standings. His stellar performance included scoring 14 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, and providing 4 assists in just 22 minutes of play.
Despite Marineros de Puerto Plata holding the fifth spot in the league with a 7-7 record, the team is gearing up for the final stretch of the Regular Season with only two games remaining. Every upcoming game is crucial for the team's playoff chances.
Polanco's remarkable display of skill in the recent game highlighted his capabilities as a champion player. Throughout the season, he has been maintaining solid averages of 6.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game, showcasing his consistent contribution to the team's success.
#4. In a recent game, the Romanian player Mihai-Nicolae Carcoana, standing at 6'11'' and 23 years old, showcased his talent as a pro basketball player for CSM Targu Jiu in the Romanian Liga Nationala Baschet de Masculin. Facing off against Galati, one of the league's weakest teams, Carcoana proved to be a key player in his team's victory with a convincing score of 92-70. Despite his young age and only being in his third season in professional basketball, he managed to contribute significantly by scoring 15 points in just 18 minutes of play.
CSM Targu Jiu, currently ranked 14th in the league with a record of 4-24, heavily relied on Carcoana's performance to secure the win. His 15 points and 2 rebounds against Galati were crucial in helping his team emerge as the champion of the game. With only one more game left in the Play-Out Round, Carcoana's upcoming performance will be critical for his team's final standing.
Throughout the season, Carcoana has been averaging 7.5 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game, showcasing his consistency and growing impact on the court. As a promising talent in Romanian basketball, Carcoana's impressive display in the recent game highlights his potential to become a finalist in future competitions.
#5. In a recent match in the Australian NBL One second division, the experienced New Zealand center, James Hunter, who stands at 6'10'' and is 34 years old, showcased his talent while playing for the Sutherland Sharks. Despite his best efforts, the Sharks (3-5) were unable to secure a victory against the Crusaders (5-7), ultimately falling short in a close 104-99 game in Terrigal.
Hunter, a graduate of South Dakota in 2015 who currently plays professionally in Australia, made a notable impact on the court by contributing 6 points in just 7 minutes of play. His performance against Central Coast C. highlighted his skills as a champion player, demonstrating his ability to make key plays when needed.
Although Hunter's individual statistics for the season stand at an average of 4.4 points per game and 2.8 rebounds per game, his focus remains on helping his team succeed and overcome challenges as they strive to improve their standing in the league.
#6. Dominican Republic native Oliver Ferreira, standing at 6'3'' and a guard at 29 years old, is a Coyotes alumnus from 2019 currently playing professionally in the Dominican Republic. In the recent game last Tuesday, Ferreira, a key player for Heroes with his solid skills, unfortunately could not lead his team to victory. Despite his commendable effort, Heroes (8-6) suffered an 85-78 defeat in Puerto Plata at the hands of the lower-ranked Marineros (#5).
Ferreira displayed his talent on the court against Marineros, contributing significantly with 11 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist during his 24 minutes of play. Despite his noteworthy performance, Heroes fell short of securing the win against their opponents.
Throughout this season, Ferreira has been averaging 3.5 points per game, showcasing his consistent contribution to the team's efforts on the court.
#7. Montenegrin player Nikola Zizic, a 6'11'' forward who is 26 years old and graduated from South Dakota in 2022, currently plays professionally in Spain. In a recent game, he was unable to lead Sant Antoni to a victory over Caja 87. Zizic had a challenging game, scoring only 2 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, and contributing 1 assist in 12 minutes of play, as his team suffered a significant defeat with a final score of 91-72. Despite his individual efforts on the court, the team was unable to secure a win. Zizic's performance against Caja 87 highlighted his skills, but it was not enough to secure a victory for his team. Throughout the season, Zizic maintains an average of 7.3 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game.
