We bring you last week's top former Knights players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Darnell Edge, a 6'2'' point guard who graduated from FDU in 2019 at the age of 28, is currently playing professionally in Poland. Recently, he showcased his skills by leading Dziki Warszawa to a crucial 85-78 victory over Trefl in the Polish Orlen Basket Liga. In this game, Edge was instrumental in his team's success, scoring 20 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and earning the MVP title by delivering an outstanding performance in 34 minutes of play. Notably, he demonstrated his accuracy by going 6 for 6 at the free-throw line.
This victory marked Dziki Warszawa's fifth consecutive win, propelling them to fifth place in the league standings. Edge's remarkable season continues to impress, as he maintains impressive averages of 16.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. With his stellar contributions, Edge has proven himself as a champion on the court, consistently delivering standout performances for his team.
#2. Grant Singleton, a 6'0'' point guard and a 25-year-old Knights alumnus from 2023, has been making waves in the professional basketball scene in Bulgaria. Recently, he played a crucial role in Lokomotiv Plovdiv's impressive 99-88 victory over the league leader Rilski, who had a record of 25-5. In this standout performance on Sunday night, Singleton showcased his skills by scoring 24 points, providing 6 assists, and making 3 steals in just 21 minutes of play. This remarkable display of talent is even more noteworthy considering that Singleton is only in his third season of professional basketball.
The game between Lokomotiv Plovdiv and Rilski was highly anticipated as both teams were ranked in the top 4 of the league. Singleton's contributions were instrumental in securing his team's fourth consecutive victory, further solidifying Lokomotiv Plovdiv's position as the fourth-placed team in the league. His stellar performance on the court, where he not only scored 24 points but also grabbed 2 rebounds and facilitated 6 assists, truly distinguished him as the champion of the game.
Singleton's exceptional season is reflected in his impressive individual stats, with an average of 15.7 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, 6.0 assists per game, and 1.3 steals per game. His consistent high-level performance has undoubtedly made him a standout player in the Bulgarian National Basketball League, proving himself to be a formidable finalist on the court.
#3. In a thrilling match between two top-ranked teams in the Czech Republic Maxa NBL, the experienced Czech champion Kamil Svrdlik, a towering 6'9'' center at 39 years old, displayed his leadership skills and prowess on the court. Playing for BK KVIS Pardubice, Svrdlik guided his team to a hard-fought 94-90 victory over the third-ranked Brno team, which boasted a record of 23-13.
During the game, Svrdlik showcased his talent by scoring 18 points, pulling down 6 rebounds, and contributing 1 assist in just 24 minutes of play. #5. Ansley Almonor, a 6'7'' forward who graduated from Kentucky in 2025 after playing for FDU from 2021 to 2024, is currently playing professionally in Finland. In a recent game, he made a significant impact by contributing to his team's dominant 100-69 victory over the league leader, Kataja, who had a record of 17-15. Almonor played for 17 minutes and scored 8 points, showcasing his skills on the court. This game was a highly anticipated matchup between two of the top 3 teams in group Places 1-6, with Salon Vilpas (22-10) leading the pack. Ahmed Barba-Bey, a 6'3'' guard who graduated from FDU in 2025 and currently plays professionally in Australia, played a key role in a dominant victory over the 16th-ranked Bandits in the Australian NBL One (second division) on Saturday night. He showcased his skills by contributing 10 points in just 21 minutes of play, aiding his team to an impressive 85-68 win.
In another noteworthy performance against Albury W.B., Barba-Bey displayed his versatility on the court by scoring 10 points, securing 1 rebound, and distributing 2 assists. #8. In a thrilling match on Monday night, the young 7'0'' center, Russian Cyril Martynov, and former Knights alumni from 2026, showcased his skills in the Canadian Elite Basketball League. Despite only scoring 2 points in 1 minute on the court, Martynov's contribution was vital in Ottawa Blackjacks' 91-85 victory over the River Lions.
Martynov's impact was also felt in another game against Niagara, where he scored 2 points and secured 1 rebound, playing a key role in his team's success. His performance exemplified his importance to the team, ultimately leading them to triumph and earning Martynov the title of champion.
Throughout the season, Martynov has been averaging 0.8 points per game and 1.3 rebounds per game, showcasing his consistent contribution to the team. Additionally, it is noteworthy that Martynov holds both American and Russian citizenship, allowing him to play in Russia as a domestic player, further highlighting his versatility and potential in the basketball world.
