We bring you last week's top former Colonials players who are currently playing in pro basketball.



   #1. Panamanian Ricardo Lindo Jr., a 6'8'' forward who is 25 years old and graduated from GWU in 2023, currently plays professionally in France. In a recent game, he helped his team, JL Bourg en Bresse, secure a convincing victory against the closely-ranked SIG Strasbourg, with a final score of 91-71 in the French Betclic ELITE league. Lindo Jr. put up an impressive performance, contributing 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist in just 22 minutes of play. Despite JL Bourg en Bresse being placed seventh in the league with a record of 18-12, Lindo Jr.'s efforts were crucial in breaking a four-game losing streak for his team. His standout performance against Strasbourg highlighted his skills and determination as a true champion on the court. This win marked an important moment for Lindo Jr. and his team, especially after a series of defeats. With the Play-In already concluded, Lindo Jr. continues to showcase his talent and versatility, averaging 8.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assist per game in the 31 games he has played this year. It's worth noting that despite his Panamanian roots, Lindo Jr. is a naturalized American, adding another layer to his international basketball journey.

   #2. Puerto Rican Arnaldo Barea, a 6'8'' center and 28-year-old Red Storm alum from 2021, showcased his talent in the Hungarian Nemzeti Bajnoksag I/A league. Despite previously playing for GWU between 2016 and 2020, Barea now competes professionally in Hungary. In a recent game, he played a crucial role in Szombathely's victory against the fifth-ranked Szolnok with a score of 89-78. Barea's outstanding performance included a double-double, as he scored 10 points and secured 10 rebounds in just 26 minutes of play. His impressive display on the court, along with contributing 1 assist, was instrumental in leading his team to victory. His skills and determination truly exemplified him as a champion. Currently, Falco-Vulcano Energia KC Szombathely holds the sixth position in the Play-Off group, with a record of 19-7. Barea's overall performance throughout the season has been commendable, averaging 10.4 points, 9.6 rebounds (ranking fourth best in the league), and 1.6 assists per game in the 21 games he has played so far. His consistent contributions and impressive stats further solidify his reputation as a finalist in the league.

   #3. Experienced 33-year-old Argentinian champion Patricio Garino, a 6'7'' small forward who graduated from GWU in 2016 after helping them to win the NIT Champion title that year, is currently playing professionally in Spain. In a recent game, he led Estudiantes to a dominant victory over the ninth-ranked Alicante (15-17), with a final score of 113-72 in the Spanish Primera FEB (second division). Garino showcased his skills by scoring 14 points in just 18 minutes of play, contributing significantly to his team's success. Garino's performance on the court against Alicante included not only his impressive scoring but also 2 rebounds and 1 assist, highlighting his versatility and impact on the game. As a key player for Movistar Estudiantes Madrid, currently placed fourth in the league with a record of 20-12, Garino's contributions have been essential to the team's success this season. Throughout the current season, Garino has maintained solid averages of 9.9 points per game and 2.8 rebounds per game in the 33 games he has played. His consistency and valuable contributions have undoubtedly been instrumental in his team's performance. Moreover, it is worth noting that Garino holds an Italian passport, which further enhances his opportunities and flexibility as a professional basketball player. As a proven champion both in college and in his professional career, Garino's skills, experience, and leadership continue to make a significant impact on the court.

   #4. Danish Kevin Larsen, a 6'10'' center who is 32 years old and an alumnus of the Colonials from 2016, played a key role in helping them secure the NIT Championship that year. Currently playing professionally in Spain, Larsen recently faced off against the previously mentioned Patricio Garino in the Spanish Primera FEB league. In a recent game, Larsen unfortunately could not lead Alicante (15-17) to a victory as they suffered a crushing 113-72 defeat at home against the higher-ranked (#4) Estudiantes. Despite the loss, Larsen put on an impressive performance by being the top scorer with 17 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, and dishing out 3 assists in just 24 minutes of play. This game marked Alicante's third consecutive loss. Throughout the season, Larsen has been excelling individually with impressive statistics. He is currently averaging 16.3 points per game, which ranks him as the third-best scorer in the league, along with 5.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game in 35 appearances.

   #5. Nigerian player Babatunde Akingbola, a 26-year-old center standing at 6'10'' who graduated from GWU in 2024 and received the Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team award that same year, currently plays professionally in the Dominican Republic. In a recent game, he contributed significantly to Indios de San Francisco's 97-93 victory over the underperforming team Soles (2-12) in the Dominican Rep. Liga Nacional de Baloncesto. Despite only scoring 2 points and grabbing 4 rebounds during his 10 minutes on the court, Akingbola's impact was evident. Indios de San Francisco, leading the league with a 12-2 record, secured their fifth consecutive win with Akingbola's help. As the Regular Season nears its end with only two games remaining, every match becomes crucial for the team's standing. Akingbola's performance against Soles demonstrated his value as a key player, showcasing his talents and contributing to his team's success. His efforts were essential in leading Indios de San Francisco to victory, positioning them well as they aim to emerge as the champion. Throughout this year, Akingbola has maintained an average of 4.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game over five matches. Known as a naturalized Nigerian, Akingbola continues to make a significant impact on the court with his skills and contributions to his team's success.
