We bring you last week's top former Spartans players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Grace VanSlooten, a 6'3'' forward who graduated from Michigan State in 2026 and received the Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year Top 10 award, is currently playing professionally in the WNBA. Recently, she contributed to Indiana Fever's triumph over the Seattle Storm with a score of 89-78 in a Women's National Basketball Association game on Sunday night. In just 18 minutes of play, she managed to score 5 points and make 3 assists. The Indiana Fever is currently holding a 4-2 record this season, with this victory marking their third consecutive win. However, since it is still early in the season, the future outcomes remain uncertain.
The finalist delivered an impressive performance by scoring 5 points, securing 2 rebounds, and providing 3 assists for Indiana F. Despite her noteworthy contributions, her team fell short of victory against their opponents.
#2. Kamaria McDaniel, a 5'10'' guard and 27-year-old alumna of Spartans from the class of 2023, is currently a professional player in the UPSHOT league. In a thrilling match on Saturday night, she played a pivotal role in the Greensboro Groove's narrow 107-105 victory over the Savannah Steel, who were 0-2 at that point in the season.
Despite being in only her third season in professional basketball, McDaniel showcased her talent by contributing 15 points in just 25 minutes of play. This performance was particularly impressive given the high stakes of the game, as it featured two of the top 4 ranked teams competing against each other. The Greensboro Groove, with a somewhat modest 2-0 record for the season, relied on McDaniel's skills to secure the win.
Against the Savannah Steel, McDaniel demonstrated her prowess by not only scoring 15 points but also adding 1 rebound and 1 assist to her stat line. Her exceptional abilities and unwavering determination proved instrumental in guiding her team to victory, highlighting her as a true champion on the court.
This season, McDaniel has maintained solid statistics, averaging 12.5 points per game and 1.5 rebounds per game in the two matches she has played thus far. Her consistent performance and impactful contributions make her a standout player to watch as she continues to excel in her professional basketball career.
