Here is the weekly review of the top performing Matadors alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Tess Amundsen, a 6'1'' forward who graduated from CSUN in 2023 and received the All-Big West Second Team award that year, is currently playing professionally in the United Kingdom. Despite her exceptional performance, she couldn't lead the Caledonia Gladiators (15-3) to victory in their recent game against the Hatters, with a final score of 73-66 in favor of the opposing team. In that match, Amundsen showcased her skills by scoring an impressive 21 points within 24 minutes, making her the top scorer. This marks her first season with the Caledonia Gladiators.
In a previous game against Sheffield H., Amundsen once again displayed her talent by contributing 21 points and 3 rebounds to the team's efforts. However, despite her standout performance, the team fell short of securing the win. Throughout the current season, Amundsen has been averaging 9.5 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game.
It is worth noting that Amundsen has a background as a former player in the Eurobasket Summer League, a prestigious platform known for nurturing basketball talents aspiring to play professionally overseas.
#2. Australian Carla Drennan, a 25-year-old guard standing at 5'11'' and a Matadors alumna from 2020, was instrumental in helping her team clinch the Australian QBL Regular Season Champion title that year. Currently playing professionally in Australia, Drennan recently faced a tough match where her team, the Willetton Tigers, with a 3-7 record, were unable to overcome the Wanneroo team, also at 3-7, in the Australian NBL One North (second division) competition. Unfortunately, Drennan's performance in the game was not one of her standout moments, as she managed to score just 3 points in the 8 minutes she spent on the court.
The Willetton Tigers, positioned tenth in the league, suffered a heavy 104-62 defeat at the hands of Wanneroo, who held the ninth spot in the West group. This loss marked the fourth consecutive defeat for the Willetton Tigers this season. Despite Drennan's individual contribution of 3 points and 1 rebound in a game against Joondalup W., her team was unable to secure a victory.
For the current season, Drennan maintains an average of 5.1 points per game and 2.9 rebounds per game, showcasing her consistent performance on the court for the Willetton Tigers.
#3. Jenna Kilty, a 5'10'' guard/forward who graduated from CSUN in 2025 and currently plays professionally in Australia, played a key role in the South West Metro Pirates' recent victory over the ninth-ranked Rollers, with a final score of 60-51 in the Australian NBL One North league, which is the second division. In this game, she managed to score 9 points in just 16 minutes of play.
The South West Metro Pirates, currently holding an 11th position in the North group with a 1-4 record, secured their first win of the season after facing four consecutive losses. Despite the early stage of the season, Kilty's performance has been noteworthy, especially since this is her first year with the team.
In a significant game against Gold Coast R, Kilty once again showcased her skills by scoring 9 points and grabbing 2 rebounds. Her impactful contributions were instrumental in leading her team to victory, solidifying their position as the champion. So far this season, Kilty has been averaging 6.2 points per game and 2.0 rebounds per game, showing her consistency and value to the team.
