Every week we bring you a list of the top former Matadors players who continue their career in pro basketball.
#1. Michael Warren, a 6'5'' forward/guard who is 30 years old and graduated from CSUN in 2018, currently plays professionally in Venezuela. In the recent game, he unfortunately couldn't help his team, Gaiteros (20-3), secure a win against the much lower-ranked (#8) Brillantes, with a final score of 74-80 on the road.
Despite the team's loss, Warren showcased an outstanding performance, emerging as the top scorer with 14 points in just 21 minutes of play. His contributions included not only scoring but also grabbing 3 rebounds and providing 1 assist against Brillantes.
Throughout the season, Warren has maintained solid statistics, averaging 10.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 2.1 steals per game in the seven games he has participated in so far. His consistent performance highlights his value as a key player for Gaiteros, even in challenging matchups like the recent game against Brillantes.
#2. Terrell Gomez, a 5'8'' point guard and 28-year-old Aztecs alumni from 2021, showcased his skills during a recent game for Quimper UJAP in France. Despite his impressive performance, where he scored 13 points and provided 2 assists in 29 minutes, Quimper UJAP suffered a defeat against the higher-ranked Denain-Voltaire with a final score of 62-75. This loss did not diminish Gomez's strong contribution to the game.
This season marks Gomez's first with Quimper UJAP, where he has been a valuable player with an average of 11.7 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game across 38 games played. His talent and dedication on the court have been evident throughout the season, earning him recognition despite the team's challenging results.
It is worth noting that despite the team's overall performance, Gomez's individual achievements have been notable, demonstrating his prowess as a skilled athlete. As a naturalized American player, Gomez continues to make a significant impact in the professional basketball scene, striving to elevate his team's performance in each game he plays.
#3. In the recent game, Vante Hendrix, a 6'5'' guard and a 27-year-old CSUN graduate who currently plays professionally in Jordan, showcased his skills for Amman United. Despite his remarkable performance, the league-leading Amman United, with a record of 13-1, suffered a 90-101 defeat to the second-ranked Al Faisaly in a highly anticipated match-up.
Hendrix stood out as the top scorer for his team, contributing 23 points and pulling down 9 rebounds in 35 minutes of play. His impressive display of talent against Al Faisaly included not only scoring, but also distributing 2 assists on the court. Nevertheless, despite his stellar efforts, Amman United fell short of securing the victory in the challenging encounter.
Throughout the season, Hendrix has consistently delivered outstanding performances, maintaining impressive averages of 16.6 points per game, 7.4 rebounds per game, 4.8 assists per game, and 1.4 steals per game in the eight games he has participated in so far. His individual achievements reflect his strong contributions to the team's success, even in the face of tough competition like Al Faisaly.
