Every week we bring you a list of the top former Titans players who continue their career in pro basketball.
#1. Experienced champion Evan Bruinsma, a 6'9'' power forward at 33 years old, who graduated from Detroit in 2014 and currently plays professionally in Israel, showcased his exceptional skills by leading Bnei Hertzeliya to a narrow 1-point victory over one of the league's weakest teams, E.Netanya, in the Israeli Winner League on Monday night. In an impressive display of talent, Bruinsma was named the MVP of the game after scoring a remarkable 39 points, securing 7 rebounds, and providing 5 assists during his 35 minutes on the court.
Bnei Ofek Dist Hertzeliya, with a record of 16-7, currently holds the third position in the league standings. With only three games remaining in the Regular Season, each match becomes crucial for the team's final placement. This marks Bruinsma's debut season with the team, and his exceptional performance against E.Netanya further solidified his reputation as a champion player.
Throughout the season, Bruinsma has maintained high statistics, averaging 17.8 points per game, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists, demonstrating his consistent contribution to the team's success.
#2. Thomas Kennedy, a 6'7'' forward and 39-year-old Titans alumnus from 2010, currently playing professionally in Japan, recently competed in a match where his team SeaHorses Mikawa, the finalist with a 43-17 record, faced off against the Golden Kings, with a record of 42-18, in the Japanese B1 League. Despite his best efforts, Kennedy was unable to lead SeaHorses Mikawa to victory, as they were narrowly defeated 82-79 by the Golden Kings in a closely contested game on the road.
During the game, Kennedy contributed 7 points in 20 minutes of play, showcasing his skills on the court. Even though SeaHorses Mikawa, who are second in the league standings, suffered their first loss after a remarkable streak of eight consecutive wins, Kennedy maintained a solid performance against the Golden Kings. He managed to score 7 points and grab 2 rebounds, displaying his versatility and experience on the court.
Throughout the current season, Kennedy has been a consistent performer for SeaHorses Mikawa, averaging 7.9 points per game and 2.3 rebounds per game. Despite the outcome of the recent game, Kennedy continues to be a valuable asset for his team, contributing both offensively and defensively.
#3. Ray McCallum, a 6'3'' point guard who graduated from Detroit in 2013 and received the All-Horizon League Player of the Year award that same year, currently plays professionally in Taiwan. In a recent game, he assisted his team, TSG Ghosthawks, in securing a victory against the league underdog YKE with a score of 102-88 in the Taiwanese P. League+ second division. Despite only scoring 3 points in 24 minutes of play, McCallum's contribution was pivotal in the match, which was considered the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. TSG Ghosthawks, positioned second from the bottom (#3) in the league standings, achieved their first win after three consecutive losses, making the victory particularly significant.
McCallum's standout performance against YKE included 3 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists, ultimately leading his team to emerge as the champion. With impressive season averages of 15.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, McCallum has been a key player throughout the season. As his team gears up for their final game of the Regular Season, the upcoming match holds significant importance for their standings and future prospects in the league.
