Carmelo Adkins commits to Rice

Rice University signed guard Carmelo Adkins (6'4''-185lbs) for the upcoming 2026-27 season. The Keller (TX) native played for the last two years at the University of South Carolina Upstate. In 29 games last season, he had 13.2ppg, 5.1rpg, and 1.6apg. He was named to the Big South Conference All-Freshman Team in 2025.
He also played at Diamond Doves during 2023-24.
Adkins graduated from Fossil Ridge High School in Keller, TX in 2023.
He was named to the UIL Texas District 4-6A All-State First Team in 2021.
