Here is the weekly review of the top performing Cardinal alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Experienced champion Anthony Brown, a 6'7'' small forward aged 33, who graduated from Stanford in 2015 and was part of their NIT-winning team that year, currently plays professionally in Turkey. Recently, he made significant contributions to Besiktas Fibabanka Istanbul's triumph over the 13th-ranked Petkimspor with a score of 81-69 in the Turkish ING Basketbol Super Ligi on Tuesday night. Brown showcased his skills by scoring 9 points, securing 7 rebounds, and providing 4 assists, while maintaining a perfect 5-for-5 record from the free-throw line, all within 28 minutes of gameplay. His team, Besiktas Fibabanka Istanbul, currently holds the second position in the league with an impressive record of 24-4, having secured their sixth consecutive victory. With only two games remaining in the Regular Season, each match becomes crucial for the team's standing. This marks Brown's first season with the club, where he has been averaging 10.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Brown's outstanding performance against Petkim underscores his prowess as a finalist and a valuable asset to his team.
#2. Brazilian champion Oscar Da Silva, a 27-year-old Cardinal alumnus from 2021, who stands at 6'9'' and plays as a forward/center, is currently competing professionally in Germany. Recently, he led FC Bayern Muenchen Basketball to a thrilling 90-88 victory over the 12th-ranked Rasta Vechta in the German easyCredit BBL. Da Silva's stellar performance included a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in just 23 minutes of play.
With this win, FC Bayern Muenchen Basketball (28-5) secured the top spot in the league, marking their eighth consecutive victory. As the Regular Season nears its end with only two games remaining, every match becomes crucial for the team's standings.
Da Silva's contribution of 11 points and 10 rebounds against Vechta demonstrated his prowess as a finalist, aiding his team in clinching the win. Throughout the season, he has maintained solid averages of 8.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. It is noteworthy that Da Silva holds both American and Brazilian citizenship, allowing him to compete in Brazil as a domestic player.
#3. Hungarian Rosco Allen, a 6'10'' power forward aged 33, who graduated from Stanford in 2016 and received the All-Pac First Team award that same year, is currently playing professionally in Japan. In a recent game, he played a crucial role in the Kawasaki Brave Thunders' victory over the seventh-ranked B-Corsairs with a score of 88-84 in the Japanese B1 League on Sunday night. Allen showcased his skills by scoring 17 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and playing for 25 minutes. Despite Kawasaki Brave Thunders being in 12th place in the East group with a record of 16-44, they showed their strength in this match.
The Regular Season has already concluded, and Allen had a standout performance against Yokohama BC, contributing 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists, guiding his team to victory as the champion of the game. Throughout the season, Allen has maintained impressive statistics, averaging 15.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. It's worth noting that Allen is a naturalized American, showcasing his versatility and talent on the court.
#4. Australian champion Isaac White, a 27-year-old guard standing at 6'2'' and an alumnus of Lancers in 2021, displayed an exceptional performance as he led the Rockingham Flames to a resounding 114-93 victory over the sixth-ranked Wanneroo in the Australian NBL One, the second division, on Saturday night.
White, who previously played for Stanford from 2017 to 2020 before turning pro in Australia, showcased his prowess on the court by recording a double-double with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists in 38 minutes of play. His stellar performance was instrumental in securing the win for his team against a tough opponent.
Currently, the Rockingham Flames hold the third position in the West group standings with a record of 6-2. White's consistent and impressive contributions have been a driving force behind the team's success this season.
In a standout game against Joondalup W, White's remarkable performance highlighted his skills as a champion player, scoring 29 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and distributing 7 assists to lead his team to victory once again. His exceptional statistics throughout the season, averaging 29.8 points per game (the second-best in the league), along with 5.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, further solidify his status as a top-tier finalist in the league.
#5. Bryce Wills, a 6'6'' forward who graduated from Stanford in 2021, is currently playing professionally in France. Despite his best efforts, Wills could not lead ESSM Le Portel Cote d'Opale to victory against Chalon/Saor in the French Betclic ELITE league. In that game, he contributed 9 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks in 33 minutes of play. Unfortunately, his team suffered a heavy 93-58 defeat on the road, marking their 23rd consecutive loss.
As the regular season nears its end with only two games remaining, each match becomes crucial for ESSM Le Portel Cote d'Opale. Wills, in his first season with the team, has been a standout performer, averaging 8.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. Despite his consistent contributions, the team has faced challenges in securing victories. In the recent game against Chalon/Saor, Wills showcased his skills with an impressive stat line, displaying his versatility on the court. As the season progresses, Wills will continue to strive for success and contribute to his team's efforts to improve their performance in the league.
#6. Josh Sharma, a 30-year-old 7'0'' center and Cardinal alum from 2019, is currently playing professionally in Japan. Despite his efforts, Sharma could not lead Kagoshima Rebnise to victory over the Storks. In the game, he scored 7 points, blocked 2 shots, and played for 21 minutes. Unfortunately, his team suffered a significant defeat, with a final score of 99-53, losing by 46 points.
In another game against Kobe S., Sharma showcased his skills on the court by scoring 7 points, securing 3 rebounds, and providing 1 assist. However, despite his impressive performance, his team was unable to secure a win.
Throughout the season, Sharma has maintained solid statistics, averaging 10.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.6 blocks per game, making him a leader in the league in blocks per game. It is worth noting that Sharma is a naturalized British player, adding to his unique background and talent on the court.
