Here is the weekly review of the top performing Broncos alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Justinian Jessup, a 6'7'' guard who graduated from Boise State in 2020, is currently playing professionally in Germany. Recently, he showcased his talent by leading FC Bayern Muenchen Basketball to a decisive 86-64 victory over the tenth-ranked Seawolves in the German easyCredit BBL. Jessup's stellar performance earned him the MVP title of the game, as he scored an impressive 15 points in just 17 minutes of play.
FC Bayern Muenchen Basketball, currently holding the top spot in the league with a record of 27-5, has been on a winning streak, securing their seventh consecutive victory. With only three games remaining in the Regular Season, each match now holds significant importance for the team.
In a recent game against Rostock, Jessup once again proved his worth on the court by contributing 15 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist to lead his team to another triumph. His consistent displays of skill and determination underscore why he is recognized as a true champion in the sport.
Throughout the season, Jessup has maintained solid statistics, averaging 11.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game, further solidifying his reputation as a standout player in the league.
#2. Spanish champion Alvaro Cardenas, a 6'1'' point guard who is 24 years old and an alumnus of the Broncos from 2025, is currently playing professionally in Greece. In a recent game last Sunday, Cardenas unfortunately could not lead Peristeri (14-10) to victory. Despite his strong performance, Peristeri suffered a 91-79 defeat on the road against the higher-ranked PAOK (#3).
Cardenas emerged as the second best scorer for his team, contributing 13 points and also dishing out 4 assists in 24 minutes of gameplay. This is Cardenas' debut season with the team, and he has been showcasing impressive skills on the court. In the match against PAOK, he displayed his talent by scoring 13 points, grabbing 2 rebounds, and distributing 4 assists. Despite his notable contributions, Peristeri was unable to secure the win against PAOK.
Throughout the season, Cardenas has maintained solid statistics, averaging 11.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. His performance highlights his potential as a key player for his team as they strive for success in the league.
#3. Experienced Liberian player Thomas Bropleh, standing at 6'5'' and aged 34, who graduated from Boise State in 2014, and currently plays professionally in Romania, showcased his talent by leading Oradea to a 79-72 victory over the sixth-ranked Pitesti in the Romanian Liga Nationala Baschet de Masculin on Thursday night. Bropleh, the MVP of the game, displayed his prowess by scoring 24 points, securing 5 rebounds, and providing 1 assist in just 29 minutes of play.
CSM CSU Oradea, with a record of 23-5, holds the top spot in the league, thanks in part to Bropleh's stellar performance. This win marked his team's third consecutive victory, highlighting their strong form. Despite this being Bropleh's first season with the team, he has quickly made a significant impact with his impressive play.
Bropleh's contribution in the game against Pitesti exemplified his champion mentality, as he played a pivotal role in securing the win for his team. Throughout the season, he has maintained solid statistics, averaging 14.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game, further solidifying his status as a standout player in the league.
It is worth noting that Bropleh is a naturalized American, bringing a wealth of experience and skill to his team in Romania. His remarkable performance on the court against Pitesti truly exemplified his capabilities as a champion player in the league.
#4. James Webb III, a 6'9'' power forward and 32-year-old Broncos alumnus from 2016, is currently playing professionally in Spain. Recently, he was unable to assist Unicaja Malaga (16-13) in their game last Wednesday, where they were narrowly defeated 101-100 by the lower-ranked Gran Canaria (#16) in Las Palmas. Despite his commendable performance, Webb III's team fell short in the match.
During the game, Webb III showcased his skills by scoring 10 points and securing 5 rebounds in 30 minutes of play. This marked his first season with Unicaja Malaga, and he has been averaging 9.1 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game throughout the season.
Despite his individual success against Gran Canaria, Webb III was unable to lead Unicaja Malaga to victory. His consistent contributions on the court reflect his dedication and talent as a player as he strives to help his team achieve success in the league.
#5. German Christian Sengfelder, a 6'8'' power forward who graduated from Boise State in 2018 and received the CoSIDA NCAA Division I Academic All-District 7 First Team award that year, is currently playing professionally in Germany. Despite his solid performance, Sengfelder was unable to assist Ratiopharm Ulm (18-15) in their recent game last Saturday, where they suffered a 98-84 defeat at the hands of the higher-ranked s Oliver Baskets (#5) in Wuerzburg.
Sengfelder, the team's second best scorer in the game, contributed 11 points in just 18 minutes of play. With only two games remaining in the Regular Season, each upcoming match holds significant importance for the team. This marks Sengfelder's first season with Ratiopharm Ulm, and he has been maintaining relatively good statistics throughout the season, averaging 10.6 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game.
Despite his commendable efforts in the game against Wuerzburg, where he showcased an impressive performance by scoring 11 points and securing 1 rebound, Sengfelder and his team ultimately ended up on the losing side.
#6. Derrick Marks, a 6'3'' guard who is 32 years old and an alumnus of the Broncos from 2015, currently plays professionally in Romania. Despite his notable achievements, including being named the All-MWC Player of the Year in 2015, Marks was unable to lead Dinamo Bucuresti (20-8) to victory in their recent game last Thursday. #7. Derrick Alston Jr., a 6'9'' forward who graduated from Boise State in 2021 and received the All-MWC First Team award that year, currently plays professionally in Italy. Recently, he contributed to Virtus Segafredo Bologna's victory over Sassari, one of the weaker teams in the Italian Serie A, with a score of 80-73 on Sunday night.
During the game, Alston Jr. managed to score 3 points and grab 1 rebound in 19 minutes of play, aiding his team in securing the win and clinching the title of champion for the match. Despite his modest performance in this particular game, he has been maintaining solid statistics throughout the season, averaging 12.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
#8. Serbian Mladen Armus, a 29-year-old forward standing at 6'10'' and an alumnus of the Broncos from 2022, made significant contributions to their MWC Regular Season Champion title that year. Currently playing professionally in Spain, he recently played a crucial role in Zunder Palencia's triumph over the struggling team Cartagena with a score of 82-72 in the Spanish Primera FEB (second division) on Saturday night. During this game, Armus displayed his prowess by scoring 6 points and securing 6 rebounds in just 20 minutes of play. Smith displayed his skills by scoring 6 points, securing 2 rebounds, and delivering 3 assists during his 35 minutes on the court. Despite his individual performance, his team suffered a tough loss, being defeated by a significant margin of 27 points with a final score of 105-78.
Even in defeat, Smith's determination and impressive stats of 8.5 points per game, 6.8 rebounds per game, 2.4 assists per game, and 1.5 blocks per game (ranking him as the third best shot blocker in the league) throughout the season showcase his caliber as a true champion.
