Here is the weekly review of the top performing Greyhounds alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Kavaughn Scott, a 28-year-old forward standing at 6'7'' and a Loyola, MD graduate from 2020, currently plays professionally in Bulgaria. In a recent game, he played a crucial role in Spartak Pleven's 86-74 victory over the closely-ranked Cherno More, who had a record of 22-8. Scott exhibited his skills by scoring 9 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, and providing 3 assists during his 26 minutes on the court. This performance was instrumental in securing the win for BC Spartak Pleven, currently positioned sixth in the Bulgarian National Basketball League.
Scott's overall contributions to the team have been noteworthy this season, with an average of 11.4 points per game, 6.2 rebounds per game, and 1.4 assists per game. His standout performance against Cherno More exemplified his talent and determination, ultimately helping his team emerge as the champion in the game.
#2. Slovenian Jan Dornik, a 28-year-old forward standing at 6'7'' and an alum of Greyhounds from 2019, showcased his skills in the recent game for Sentjur against Sencur Gorenjska Kranj. Despite his strong performance, Sentjur, currently with a record of 9-18, fell short at home with a score of 74-68 against the third-ranked Sencur Gorenjska Kranj.
Dornik contributed significantly to his team's effort, scoring 10 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, and dishing out 3 assists in just 18 minutes of play. His performance on the court was notable, yet it wasn't enough to clinch the victory for Sentjur in this crucial game.
Throughout the season, Dornik has maintained solid averages of 9.3 points per game, 5.4 rebounds per game, 1.2 assists per game, and 1.2 steals per game. His consistency and contributions have been valuable to Sentjur, even in games where the team has faced tough opponents like Sencur Gorenjska Kranj.
#3. Cameron Gregory, a 30-year-old forward/center standing at 6'9" who graduated from Loyola, MD in 2018 and now plays professionally in North Macedonia, showcased his skills as he led Gostivar to a convincing victory over the second-ranked Cair 2030 team. In a dominant performance on Tuesday night in the North Macedonian Super League, Gostivar emerged triumphant with a resounding 107-72 win.
Gregory's impact was felt on the court as he contributed 13 points and 8 rebounds in just 26 minutes of play against Cair. His stellar performance was crucial in securing the win for Gostivar, propelling them to the top as the champion of the 2030 championship match.
Despite Gostivar's current fifth-place standing in the Places 7-12 group, Gregory's consistent performance throughout the season has been noteworthy, averaging 12.1 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game. His contributions have undoubtedly been instrumental in Gostivar's success, culminating in their recent triumph as the champion of the championship match.
#4. Spanish champion Alonso Faure, a 24-year-old forward standing at 6'10'' and an alum of Waves from 2025, showcased his skills in Oviedo's recent victory over the tenth-ranked Zamora (14-17) with a score of 90-80 in the Spanish Primera FEB, the second division, on Saturday night. Faure, who previously played at Loyola, MD between 2020 and 2024 before turning pro in Spain, had a notable performance, contributing 6 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists in just 23 minutes of play.
Alimerka Oviedo Baloncesto, currently holding the sixth spot in the league with an 18-13 record, has one more crucial game remaining in the Regular Season. Faure, in his first season with the team, has been instrumental in their success, averaging 7.8 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. His impact was evident in the game against Zamora, where his all-around performance helped secure the victory and further establish his reputation as a finalist.
#5. Isaiah Rayshaud Hart, a 5'11'' point guard who recently graduated from AUM in 2022, has been making waves in the basketball world. Despite playing for Loyola, MD between 2017 and 2021, where he helped them reach the final of the Patriot League Tournament, Hart has now taken his talents to Germany where he currently plays professionally. Leading the PS Karlsruhe Lions to a commanding victory against the 16th-ranked Uni Baskets with a score of 89-74 in the German BARMER 2. Basketball Bundesliga ProA (second division) on Saturday night, Hart showcased his skills on the court. In this game, he contributed 14 points in just 22 minutes of play, further solidifying his reputation as a champion.
Currently, the PS Karlsruhe Lions hold the eighth spot in the league with a record of 17-17. With only two games remaining in the Regular Season, every match becomes crucial for the team's standings. Hart's standout performance against Paderborn, where he scored 14 points, grabbed 2 rebounds, and provided 2 assists, was pivotal in securing another victory for his team. His consistent contributions have been instrumental in showcasing his abilities as a finalist.
Individually, Hart has been having an exceptional season, boasting impressive statistics. He maintains an average of 16.2 points per game, along with 1.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists. His remarkable performance on the court highlights his talent and potential as a true champion in the making.
#6. The Spanish Golden Dike, a 6'10'' forward who is 24 years old and an alumnus of Greyhounds from 2024, currently plays professionally in Spain. In a recent game, he was unable to lead Palma BM to victory over Estudiantes. Despite his efforts, Dike's performance in Sunday's game was not one of his best, as he only scored 2 points in 16 minutes of play. Though he managed to contribute 3 rebounds along with his 2 points, his team ultimately fell short, losing by a narrow margin of 73-70. Throughout the season, Dike has been averaging 3.1 points per game and 3.9 rebounds per game, showcasing his skills and contributions to the team even in the face of challenging matchups like the one against Estudiantes.
