Here is the weekly review of the top performing Tigers alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Danish Sofie Tryggedsson, a 6'0'' guard/forward who is 30 years old and graduated from Pacific in 2020, is currently playing professionally in Iceland. In a recent game, Tryggedsson's team, Keflavik (12-10), faced off against Haukar (16-6) in the Icelandic Bonus League. Despite Tryggedsson's strong performance of 7 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists in 27 minutes of play, Keflavik was unable to overcome Haukar, ultimately losing 86-72 on the road. This defeat marked the first loss for the first-placed Keflavik in the Places 6-10 group this season. It is worth noting that this is Tryggedsson's first season with the team.
Throughout the season, Tryggedsson has been averaging 5.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. Despite the loss against Haukar, Tryggedsson's consistent contributions on the court demonstrate her value as a key player for Keflavik.
#2. Australian champion Kailey Neave, standing at 6'2'' and an alumna of the Tigers class of 2025, showcased her skills on the court last Sunday but unfortunately couldn't lead the Pakenham Warriors to victory against the Suns in Upwey. Despite her impressive performance of scoring 12 points, grabbing 6 rebounds, and playing for 28 minutes, the Warriors were defeated 78-71 by the leading team.
However, it's still early in the season, leaving room for unexpected outcomes. In a subsequent game against Sherbrooke S., Neave once again demonstrated her talent by contributing 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist, aiding in her team's triumph. Her consistent performance highlights her capabilities and determination, solidifying her reputation as a true finalist.
With an average of 12.5 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game this season, Neave continues to prove her value on the court and remains a key player for the Pakenham Warriors.
#3. Elizabeth Elliott, a former Pacific graduate and standing at 6'1'' as a center, has been making waves in the professional basketball scene in Spain. Recently, she played a crucial role in Sevilla's unexpected triumph over the fourth-ranked team, Ardoi, with a final score of 62-50 in the Spanish Liga Femenina Challenge, the second division of the league. Despite her team's previous standings at 13th place with a record of 10-20, Elliott's stellar performance on the court significantly contributed to their success. In the game, she showcased her skills by scoring 10 points and securing 6 rebounds in just 29 minutes of play.
With the Regular Season coming to an end, Elizabeth Elliott's impact as a player has been undeniable. Her average of 9.1 points per game and 4.2 rebounds per game this season exemplifies her consistency and talent. As a key player for Gardenstore Baloncesto Sevilla, her exceptional contributions have been instrumental in leading her team to victory and ultimately securing their position as the champion.
#4. British champion Samantha Ashby, a 25-year-old guard standing at 5'10" and an alumna of Tigers from 2023, currently plays professionally in Australia. Despite her remarkable performance, Ashby could not aid the Perth Redbacks (2-4) in their recent game last Saturday. The tenth-placed Perth Redbacks were defeated 79-66 by the Hawks (#9) in the West group, where Ashby was the top scorer with 17 points. Additionally, she contributed 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks in the 38 minutes she played.
In another notable game against Perry Lakes Hawks, Ashby once again displayed an impressive performance, scoring 17 points, grabbing 9 rebounds, and providing 4 assists. Despite her outstanding efforts, her team fell short of securing the victory.
Throughout the season, Ashby has maintained high individual statistics, averaging 22.0 points per game, 6.8 rebounds per game, 3.0 assists per game, and 1.8 steals per game. It is noteworthy that Ashby holds both American and British citizenship, allowing her to play in the United Kingdom as a domestic player.
#5. Australian champion Emily Simons, a 31-year-old guard/forward standing at 5'10'' and a Pacific graduate from the class of 2017, currently playing professionally in Australia, recently guided the Northern Suburbs Bears to a dominant victory over the 11th-ranked Hawks, triumphing with a convincing scoreline of 88-40 in the Australian NBL One North, the country's second division, during a game on Sunday night. In a remarkable performance, she contributed 11 points and secured 4 rebounds in just 18 minutes of play.
The Northern Suburbs Bears, boasting a flawless record of 8-0, currently lead the East group standings, having emerged victorious in all eight games of the regular season thus far. This season marks Simons' seventh year with the team, showcasing her loyalty and commitment to her teammates and the organization.
Simons' standout display against Illawarra H highlighted her skills and prowess on the court, as her 11 points and 4 rebounds played a pivotal role in securing the win for her team.
