We bring you last week's top former Matadors players who are currently playing in pro basketball.



   #1. Experienced champion Stephen Maxwell, a 6'7'' forward aged 33, who graduated from CSUN in 2015 and received the All-Big West Honorable Mention award that year, currently plays professionally in Chile. In a recent game, he led Universidad de Concepcion to a thrilling 92-87 victory over the third-ranked Puente Alto in the Chilean Liga Nacional de Basquetbol. Maxwell's stellar performance earned him the MVP title of the game, as he showcased his skills by scoring 34 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in just 37 minutes of play. This significant win was a crucial game between two top 3 ranked teams in group Centro, with CD Universidad de Concepcion (10-0) leading the pack. Maxwell's team remains undefeated, having won all ten games in the Regular Season, which has now concluded. His outstanding display on the court, including his impressive double-double and leadership, was pivotal in securing the victory for his team and ultimately claiming the champion title. Maxwell's exceptional season continues to impress, as he maintains high statistics with an average of 27.0 points per game, making him the league's top scorer, along with 7.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. As a finalist, Maxwell's consistent performance and valuable contributions have undoubtedly played a key role in his team's success and journey to becoming the champion.

   #2. Onyinyechi Eyisi, a 6'9'' forward/center and 26-year-old Matadors alumni from 2023, showcased his talent as a professional basketball player in Portugal by playing a crucial role in Lusitania's recent victory over the seventh-ranked Academica with a score of 85-79 in the Portuguese Proliga, the second division, on Sunday night. Eyisi's remarkable performance included a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds, along with 5 assists and 3 steals in 34 minutes of play. This exceptional display is particularly impressive considering it is only his third season in professional basketball. S.C. Lusitania EXPERT, with a perfect record of 13-0, currently leads the standings in the Places 9-16 group, having won all thirteen games in the Second Stage of the competition. With only two games remaining in the Second Stage, each match becomes crucial for Eyisi and his team as they aim to maintain their dominance. Eyisi's standout performance against Academica not only secured the victory for his team but also earned him the prestigious Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com. Throughout the season, Eyisi has consistently delivered impressive statistics, averaging 17.1 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.1 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game. It is worth noting that Eyisi is a naturalized Nigerian, adding to his international profile as a standout player in the Portuguese Proliga.

   #3. Terrell Gomez, a 5'8'' point guard who graduated from SDSU in 2021 and previously played for CSUN from 2017 to 2020, is currently showcasing his skills as a professional player in France. Recently, in a game where his team Quimper UJAP faced off against the formidable Chorale de Roanne, Gomez couldn't lead his team to victory despite his commendable performance. The final score saw Quimper losing 81-67 on the road, with Gomez emerging as the top scorer with 14 points and contributing 4 assists in a 30-minute display. As the Regular Season nears its end, with only three games remaining, each match becomes increasingly crucial for the team. This marks Gomez's debut season with Quimper UJAP, and he has been maintaining respectable statistics throughout, averaging 11.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. Despite the loss against Roanne, Gomez showcased his talent by putting up an impressive performance, highlighting his scoring ability, playmaking skills, and overall contribution to the team. It's worth noting that Terrell Gomez, a naturalized American player, is striving to make a significant impact on Quimper UJAP as they aim to navigate their way through the remainder of the season.

   #4. Ethan Igbanugo, a 6'2'' guard and a 27-year-old alum of the Matadors class of 2023, showcased his skills as a professional basketball player in Norway by playing for Fyllingen in a crucial game against Gimle. In the Norwegian Basketligaen Norge, Fyllingen secured a hard-fought victory over Gimle with a score of 80-76 on Thursday night, in a matchup between two top 4 ranked teams. Igbanugo, in his first season with Fyllingen, made a significant impact by scoring 7 points and grabbing 1 rebound in just 20 minutes of play. His contribution was instrumental in leading his team to victory, making him the champion of the match. This win marked Fyllingen's sixth consecutive victory in a row, further solidifying their position at the top of the league standings with a record of 23-4. Igbanugo's performance on the court has been impressive throughout the season, averaging 14.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. Additionally, it is worth noting that Igbanugo is a naturalized Irish player, adding an international flair to his achievements on the basketball court.

   #5. Tavrion Dawson, a 6'8'' forward/center who graduated from CSUN in 2018 and received the All-Big West Second Team award that year, currently plays professionally in Japan. Despite his impressive performance, he was unable to lead Tokushima Gambarous to victory in their recent game against Tokyo United, where they were defeated 82-78 by the lower-ranked team. Dawson, the top scorer of the game with 20 points, also contributed 5 rebounds in 28 minutes of play. Despite his best efforts, Dawson's team fell short in the game against Tokyo United. Individually, Dawson has been having a standout season with impressive statistics. He is averaging 21.2 points per game, which is the second best in the league, along with 6.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. Dawson's consistent high-level performance showcases his skills and contribution to his team, even in the face of tough competition.
