Here is the weekly review of the top performing Colonials alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Tyler Cavanaugh, a 6'9'' power forward who graduated from GWU in 2017, has been making waves in the Turkish ING Basketbol Super Ligi as he plays professionally in Turkey. Recently, he played a crucial role in Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul's narrow 78-76 victory over the tenth-ranked Tofas, contributing 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists during his 28 minutes on the court.
Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul currently holds the third position in the league with a record of 20-8, positioning themselves strongly for the upcoming playoffs. With just two games remaining in the Regular Season, each match is now of utmost importance as teams vie for favorable playoff seedings.
Cavanaugh's performance against Tofas further solidified his impact on the team, displaying his skills and determination to emerge as a finalist. This season, he has maintained solid stats averaging 12.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game, showcasing his consistent contribution to his team's success.
#2. Brendan Adams, a 6'4'' guard and 26-year-old Colonials alum from 2023, who received the All-Atlantic 10 Most Improved Player of the Year award in that year, currently plays professionally in Russia. In a recent game last Monday, Adams, despite his notable performance, was unable to lead Parma-Pari (22-18) to victory as they were defeated 93-80 on the road by the higher-ranked Lokomotiv (#4). The champion was the top scorer of the game, contributing 20 points, along with 4 rebounds and 6 assists during his 37 minutes on the court. This marks Adams' first season with the team.
Despite his impressive performance against Lokomotiv, where he showcased his skills with 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists, Adams and his team fell short of securing the win. Throughout the season, the finalist has maintained strong individual statistics, averaging 15.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
#3. Puerto Rican basketball player Arnaldo Barea, a 6'8'' center aged 28, who graduated from St. John's University in 2021 but played for George Washington University from 2016 to 2020, showcased his skills in Hungary by leading Szombathely to a decisive 95-82 victory over the fourth-ranked Honved team. Barea, who currently plays professionally in Hungary, was the standout player of the game and was named the MVP after an exceptional performance. He achieved a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds in just 29 minutes of play.
In this game, Falco-Vulcano Energia KC Szombathely (19-7) secured a crucial win, with Barea's remarkable contribution being instrumental in their success. His notable performance, which included 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists, played a key role in leading his team to victory and ultimately earning them the champion title in the match. Barea's season statistics reflect his strong performance this season, averaging 10.6 points per game, 9.9 rebounds per game (ranking fourth best in the league), and 1.7 assists per game.
#4. Japanese champion Yuta Watanabe, a 6'9'' forward and 31-year-old Colonials alumnus from 2018, who received the All-Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year award that year, showcased his talent once again as he led the Chiba Jets to a convincing 83-68 victory over the sixth-ranked Dragonflies in the Japanese B1 League on Saturday night. Watanabe contributed significantly to the win by scoring 18 points in just 29 minutes of gameplay.
The Chiba Jets, currently standing as the third-placed team in the East group with a record of 40-18, have been on a winning streak with this being their third consecutive triumph. With only two games remaining in the Regular Season, each game is becoming increasingly crucial for the team's standings.
In a recent game against Hiroshima D, Watanabe once again demonstrated his prowess on the court by scoring 18 points, grabbing 3 rebounds, and providing 1 assist, ultimately securing another victory for his team. His exceptional performance clearly highlighted his skills as a finalist. Throughout this season, Watanabe has maintained solid statistics, averaging 13.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
#5. Experienced Russian point guard Tony Taylor, standing at 6'1'' and 35 years old, graduated from GWU in 2012 and currently plays professionally in Turkey. He recently showcased his talent by leading Trabzonspor to a crucial victory against the closely-ranked Galatasaray, with a final score of 79-69 in the Turkish ING Basketbol Super Ligi on Sunday night. In this intense match, he contributed significantly to his team's success by scoring 11 points, securing 1 rebound, and providing 2 assists in 30 minutes of gameplay. This outstanding performance not only highlighted his skill on the court but also solidified his position as a true champion.
Trabzonspor Medical Park Basketbol, with a season record of 18-10, currently holds the sixth position in the league standings. With only two games remaining until the end of the Regular Season, every upcoming match is of utmost importance. Taylor's remarkable season statistics of 11.5 points per game, 1.6 rebounds per game, and 4.5 assists per game further demonstrate his valuable contributions to the team. His consistent performance throughout the season exemplifies his dedication and capability as a finalist.
#6. Panamanian Ricardo Lindo Jr., standing at an impressive 6'8'' and a 25-year-old forward, who is an alumnus of Colonials from 2023, currently playing professionally in France, played a key role in JL Bourg en Bresse's recent victory against league leader Besiktas, with a final score of 72-60 in the BKT Eurocup on Wednesday night. Despite scoring only 2 points and grabbing 9 rebounds in 22 minutes of play, Lindo Jr.'s performance was crucial in his team's success against Besiktas, contributing significantly to their win. His notable efforts on the court proved to be pivotal in guiding his team to triumph, ultimately leading them to secure the title of champion.
Throughout this season, Lindo Jr. has maintained an average of 6.6 points per game, along with 4.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. It is worth mentioning that he holds American citizenship.

Argentinian player Patricio Garino, a 6'7'' small forward who is 32 years old and graduated from George Washington University in 2016, where he helped them to win the NIT Champion that year, currently plays professionally in Spain. In a recent game last Sunday, Garino unfortunately could not help Estudiantes (19-11) as they were defeated 89-79 by the second-ranked Monbus Obradoiro in Santiago de Compostela. #8. James Bishop IV, a 6'2'' guard and 26-year-old Colonials alumni from 2024, currently playing professionally in Slovakia, showcased his skills in a recent game. Despite his notable performance, Bishop IV was unable to lead Prievidza (22-14) to victory last Sunday as they were defeated 100-90 by the leading team, Levice. The champion recorded 14 points and 3 assists in 28 minutes of play.
In the game against Levice, Bishop IV displayed his talent by scoring 14 points, securing 1 rebound, and distributing 3 assists. Despite his commendable efforts, his team ultimately fell short. Throughout the season, Bishop IV has maintained solid statistics with an average of 13.4 points per game, along with 1.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
#9. Danish Kevin Larsen, a 6'10'' center who graduated from GWU in 2016 after helping them win the NIT Champion title that year, currently plays professionally in Spain. Unfortunately, he was unable to lead Alicante to victory in their recent game against Palma BM, with Alicante ultimately falling short 77-68 in Llucmajor. Despite Larsen's noteworthy performance, recording a double-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists in 30 minutes of play, his team was unable to secure the win. His individual season performance has been impressive, averaging 16.7 points per game (ranking him third best in the league), along with 5.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
