We bring you last week's top former Owls players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Experienced champion Markeith Cummings, a 6'6'' small forward at 37 years old who graduated from KSU in 2013 and currently plays professionally in Brazil, showcased his skills by leading Clube de Regatas do Flamengo to a convincing victory against the 12th-ranked U. Corinthians, with a final score of 102-72 in the Brazilian Novo Basquete Brasil on Wednesday night. In this game, he impressed with 12 points, 1 rebound, and 3 assists in just 23 minutes of play.
Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, with a record of 28-10, stands fifth in the league, and this win marked their third consecutive triumph. Notably, this is Cummings' first season with the team, and his impact was evident as he contributed significantly to the team's success. As a champion, his performance was crucial in securing the victory for his team against U. Corinthians.
Throughout the season, Cummings has been averaging 9.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. His experience and skills have undoubtedly made him a valuable asset to Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, positioning him as a key player in their journey towards becoming finalists in the league.
#2. Italian Pietro Agostini, a 6'9'' forward and 26-year-old alum of Owls from 2020, currently playing professionally in Italy, showcased his prowess as a key player in Treviglio's recent thrilling victory over the leading team, Vigevano, with a score of 78-75 in the Italian Serie B Nazionale. Agostini's remarkable performance included a double-double, scoring 16 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and making 4 steals in 33 minutes of gameplay.
Treviglio Brianza Basket, with a record of 21-14, holds the fifth position in Group A, with Agostini proving to be an invaluable asset to the team in his first season. With only one more game left in the Regular Season, Agostini's upcoming performance will be crucial for the team's success.
Against Vigevano, Agostini not only scored 16 points and secured 10 rebounds but also contributed with 1 assist, highlighting his versatility and impact on the court. His consistent performance throughout the season, averaging 8.4 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per game, has been instrumental in leading his team to victory and solidifying his position as a key contender in the league.
#3. Terrell Burden, a 5'10'' point guard who graduated from KSU in 2024 and received the All-A-Sun Second Team award, is currently playing professionally in the United Kingdom. Recently, he played for Newcastle Eagles in a challenging match against the Sharks in the British Super League Basketball. Despite his solid performance of 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists in 26 minutes, Newcastle Eagles fell short against the Sharks, losing 85-82 on the road. The Sharks, ranked #4, proved to be formidable opponents for Burden and his team.
With only two games remaining in the Regular Season, each game is crucial for Newcastle Eagles. Burden showcased his skills in a noteworthy display against Sheffield Sharks, contributing 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. However, despite his commendable efforts, Newcastle Eagles could not secure the victory.
Throughout the season, Burden has maintained relatively strong statistics, averaging 10.9 points per game, 3.1 rebounds per game, 3.9 assists per game, and 1.3 steals per game. As the season nears its end, Burden remains determined to continue his contributions and help his team strive for success in the league.
#4. Andre Weir, a 24-year-old center standing at 6'9'' and an alumnus of Owls from 2025, showcased his talent while playing professionally in Georgia. In a recent game where his team RASHI faced off against Batumi in the Georgian Superleague, Weir put on an impressive performance. Despite his best efforts, including scoring 7 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and making 3 blocks in just 23 minutes of play, RASHI was unable to defeat the higher-ranked Batumi, losing 108-90 at home. This defeat marked RASHI's first loss after a streak of three consecutive victories.
Weir, in his first season with the team, has been instrumental individually throughout the season. His notable statistics include averaging 20.9 points per game (ranking fourth best in the league), 11.7 rebounds per game (ranking second best in the league), 1.3 assists per game, 2.4 blocks per game (ranking second best in the league), and 1.1 steals per game. Despite the setback in the game against Batumi, Weir's consistent performance and impressive stats highlight his prowess as a champion player in the league.
#5. Spencer Rodgers, a 6'4'' guard who is 26 years old and a Kansas State University graduate from 2023, is currently playing professionally in Thailand. In a recent Basketball Champions League Asia game, he played a crucial role in helping Hitech Bangkok City emerge victorious against the closely-ranked Johor Tigers with a score of 91-89. Despite scoring just 5 points and grabbing 4 rebounds in 21 minutes of play, Rodgers made a significant impact on the game.
This matchup was highly anticipated as it featured two of the top 4 ranked teams in the league. Hitech Bangkok City, with a current record of 2-2, holds the second position in the league standings. #6. Nigel Pruitt, a 6'7'' forward and 31-year-old alum of Owls from 2016, has been excelling in his professional basketball career in Germany. Notably, he received the All-Eurobasket Summer League in Atlanta First Team award in 2016. Recently, Pruitt played a pivotal role in SBB Baskets Wolmirstedt's triumph over the Leverkusen team with a score of 77-70 in the German BARMER 2. Basketball Bundesliga ProA, the second division league, on Sunday night. In this game, Pruitt showcased his skills by scoring 9 points, securing 4 rebounds, and providing 1 assist in 24 minutes of gameplay. His outstanding performance not only contributed significantly to the team's victory but also solidified his position as a champion. Throughout this season, Pruitt has maintained an average of 9.1 points per game and 2.2 rebounds per game. It is notable that Pruitt holds dual American and German citizenship, allowing him to play in Germany as a domestic player. Pruitt's background as a former Eurobasket Summer League player further underscores his talent and dedication to excelling in basketball, especially for players aspiring to pursue overseas opportunities.
