EuroBasket Pro Screaming Eagles Weekly Update

Every week we bring you a list of the top former Screaming Eagles players who continue their career in pro basketball.



   #1. Josh Price, a 6'9'' forward who graduated from S. Indiana in 2021, is currently playing professionally in Israel. In his first season with M. Haifa, Price has been a standout performer, showcasing his skills on the court. Although M. Haifa suffered their fifth consecutive loss in a close game against M. Kiryat Gat, Price stood out as the top scorer with 31 points. Additionally, he contributed 5 rebounds and 2 blocks in 39 minutes of play. Despite Price's individual success, M. Haifa was narrowly defeated 90-89 at home by the higher-ranked M. Kiryat Gat, currently sitting at #13 in the league standings. This loss further emphasizes the importance of the remaining two games in the Regular Season, as every game becomes crucial for M. Haifa's playoff hopes. Throughout the season, Price has maintained impressive statistics, averaging 22.8 points per game, making him the third-best scorer in the league. In addition to his scoring prowess, he has been a valuable asset on the court, averaging 7.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.3 steals per game in the 26 games he has played so far. Despite the recent challenges faced by M. Haifa, Price's stellar performance has been a highlight of his first season with the team.

   #2. Jelani Simmons, a 6'5'' guard who is 25 years old and an alum of the Screaming Eagles from 2023, currently plays professionally in Portugal. In a recent game, he was unable to lead his team, Queluz (7-14), to a victory over Sporting (17-4) in the Portuguese Liga Betclic Masculina. Despite his solid performance of scoring 9 points and dishing out 3 assists in 35 minutes, Queluz fell short on the road, losing 69-83 to the second-ranked Sporting team. Even though the outcome was not in his team's favor, Simmons displayed a noteworthy performance against Sporting, contributing 9 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists. With only one more game left in the Regular Season, the upcoming match will be crucial for Queluz. Individually, Simmons has had an impressive year with standout statistics. He boasts an average of 17.7 points per game, along with 4.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.0 steals per game (ranking fourth best in the league) over 21 games.

   #3. Experienced player Manny Ogunfolu, a 6'7'' power forward at 36 years old, graduated from Southern Indiana in 2014 where he helped them become the GLVC Tournament champion that year. Currently playing professionally in Spain, Ogunfolu recently competed for Chantada (11-15) in their final game. Despite his stellar performance, the eighth-placed Chantada was decisively defeated 86-68 on their home court by the Group A-B leaders, Marin. Ogunfolu stood out as the top scorer of the game, contributing 20 points and 5 rebounds in just 22 minutes of play. This game marked the conclusion of the Regular Season, and notably, it was Ogunfolu's debut season with the team. Despite his remarkable individual performance against Marin, where he showcased his skills by scoring, rebounding, and assisting, Chantada was unable to secure the victory. Throughout the season, Ogunfolu has maintained solid statistics, averaging 11.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game across 11 games. Originally from Nigeria, Ogunfolu has showcased his talent and experience on the court, aiming to make a significant impact for his team as they progress in their basketball journey.

   #4. Israeli Yarin Hasson, a 21-year-old forward standing at 6'10'' and an alumnus of the Screaming Eagles from 2024, showcased his skills on the court playing professionally in Israel. In a recent match, he contributed significantly to Maccabi Urban Ramat Gan's triumph over the closely-ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona with a final score of 82-70 in the Israeli Winner League. Despite scoring only 2 points in 5 minutes of gameplay, his impact was crucial. The victory was particularly significant as it ended his team's streak of four consecutive losses, marking their first win in a while. Currently, Maccabi Urban Ramat Gan holds the ninth position in the league standings with a record of 7-12. This season marks Hasson's debut with the team, and his performance has been steadily improving. In the game against Ironi Nes-Ziona, Hasson's two essential points helped secure the win, highlighting his value as a key player. This achievement further solidified his position as a champion within the team, contributing to their success on the court. Throughout the season, Hasson has maintained an average of 1.0 points per game in the two games he has played so far. Despite this statistic, his recent performance demonstrates his ability to step up when it matters most, proving himself as a valuable asset to Maccabi Urban Ramat Gan.

   #5. Nick Hittle, a towering forward standing at 6'10'', is a former standout player from Western Illinois University who transitioned to playing in South Indiana before eventually turning pro in Australia. Recently, he showcased his skills in a match between his team, the Eastern Mavericks, and the Norwood Flames in the Australian NBL One, a second division league. Despite Hittle's valiant efforts, including scoring 8 points and grabbing 1 rebound in just 15 minutes of play, the Eastern Mavericks fell short against the Norwood Flames, ultimately losing 68-81 at the Flames' home court in Marden. The Norwood Flames, ranked fifth in the Central group, proved to be a tough opponent for the sixth-placed Eastern Mavericks, who now hold a 2-3 record early in the season. Hittle's individual performance against the Norwood Flames was noteworthy, contributing significantly to his team's effort on the court. So far this season, Hittle has been averaging 8.5 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game across two matches, demonstrating his value as a key player for the Eastern Mavericks. As the season progresses, there is still ample opportunity for Hittle and his team to turn things around and make a push towards success in the league.

   #6. Nicholas Evans, a 6'11'' forward at 38 years old and a Screaming Eagles alumnus from 2012 who currently plays professionally in Taiwan, showcased his immense talent as he led Changhua to a 69-62 victory over the league leader Yulon Luxgen in the Taiwanese Super Basketball League, which is the third division of the league, in a game held on Wednesday night. Evans, the MVP of the game, was instrumental in his team's success, recording a double-double with 22 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks in 36 minutes of play. His exceptional performance against Yulon Luxgen highlighted his versatility and skill on the court, with Evans contributing significantly in scoring, rebounding, and playmaking. His remarkable display ultimately propelled his team to victory, showcasing his prowess as a champion player. Evans' outstanding performance earned him the prestigious Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, further solidifying his reputation as a finalist player. Throughout the season, Evans has maintained impressive individual statistics, averaging 20.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game over eight appearances. His consistent high-level play has made him a standout player in the league. Additionally, it is worth noting that Evans is a naturalized Filipino, adding a unique aspect to his basketball journey.

   #7. Emmanuel Little, a 27-year-old forward standing at 6'6'', is a pro basketball player currently competing in The Basketball League (TBL). Little, who graduated from Nicholls in 2022, previously played for Southern Indiana from 2017 to 2021, where he notably helped them secure the GLVC East Division Regular Season Champion title. In a recent thrilling game between the Hamilton County Huskers and the Glass City Wranglers, Little emerged as the standout player. The Huskers clinched a narrow 92-91 victory, largely thanks to Little's stellar performance. He showcased his skills by contributing 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assists during the intense 43-minute game. Little's remarkable double-double and overall impact on the court earned him the well-deserved title of MVP for that game. Throughout the season, Little has consistently displayed exceptional talent and impressive statistics. He maintains an impressive average of 19.5 points per game, 8.0 rebounds per game, and 1.5 assists per game across two games. His consistent high-level performance not only highlights his individual capabilities but also underscores his vital role in leading his team to success. Emmanuel Little's dedication and talent undoubtedly position him as a true champion and a formidable force in the basketball arena.

   #8. Jacob Polakovich, a towering 6'10'' center and 25-year-old alumni of the Screaming Eagles from 2023, has been making waves in the professional basketball scene in Japan. Recently, he showcased his skills in a thrilling match where Shanan United emerged victorious against Shinagawa with a score of 76-71 in the Japanese B3 League. During the game, Polakovich displayed his prowess on the court by securing a double-double with 14 points and an equal number of rebounds, along with contributing 5 assists in his 34 minutes of play. His impressive performance of 14 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists not only helped secure the win for his team but also earned him the prestigious Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, highlighting his exceptional talent as a champion player. Throughout the season, Polakovich has consistently delivered outstanding performances, maintaining impressive averages of 18.0 points per game, 12.2 rebounds per game (ranking third best in the league), and 2.2 assists per game across 52 games. His stellar contributions on the court have undoubtedly solidified his reputation as a finalist player in the league.
