EuroBasket Pro Hawkeyes Weekly Update

Every week we bring you a list of the top former Hawkeyes players who continue their career in pro basketball.



   #1. Experienced Gabriel Olaseni (6'10''-C-1991, played in 2011-15, plays pro in Turkey) led his Turkish team Mersin Spor to a victory over the closely-ranked Karditsas (1-2) 81-73 in the Basketball Champions League in Wednesday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Olaseni recorded 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in 33 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Mersin Buyuksehir Belediyesi Spor Mersin (2-1) is placed second in the Basketball Champions League. There are only three games left until the end of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Olaseni has relatively good stats this year 13.7ppg, 7.3rpg and 2.7apg in three games he played so far.

   #2. Jarrod Uthoff (6'9''-PF-1993, played in 2011-11, currently in Italy) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Igokea (1-3) crushing them 115-90 in the Basketball Champions League on Tuesday night. He scored 10 points (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line) in 24 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Allianz Pallacanestro Trieste (1-3) is placed third in the Basketball Champions League. It was his team's first victory after three consecutive loses. There are only two games left until the end of the Basketball Champions League Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Uthoff has relatively good stats this year 11.0ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.3spg in four games.

   #3. Filip Rebraca (6'9''-F-1997, played in 2021-23, plays pro in Serbia) was the major contributor in a FMP BG's victory against the league leader Borac CA (1-3) 83-74 in the ABA League in Monday night's game. Rebraca scored 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. KK FMP SoccerBet Beograd (2-2) is placed first in the ABA League. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. This year Rebraca averages 7.5ppg and 5.3rpg.

   #4. Joe Wieskamp (6'6''-G/F-1999, played in 2018-21, plays in Germany) could not help Science City Jena in their last game. Despite his very good performance his team lost 92-97 on the road to the lower-ranked (#3) s Oliver Baskets. Wieskamp was the second best scorer with 16 points. He also added 7 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 43 minutes. It's Wieskamp's first season with the team. Wieskamp has relatively good stats this year 12.3ppg, 7.3rpg and 1.5spg in four games.

   #5. Tyler Cook (6'9''-PF-1997, played in 2016-19, currently in Japan), who plays in the Japanese B1 League was not able to help Cyberdyne Ibaraki Robots (2-10) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Cook's very good performance the 12th-placed Cyberdyne Ibaraki Robots (2-10) were edged68-65 in Tochigi by the second-ranked Brex in the East group. He recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 15 rebounds. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Cook's first year with the team. Cook has relatively good stats this season 14.3ppg, 6.6rpg and 1.8apg.

   #6. Kris Murray (6'8''-F-2000, graduated '2023, plays pro in the NBA) contributed to a 2-point Portland Trail Blazers' victory against the Denver Nuggets 109-107 in the NBA in Friday night's game. Murray scored 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 30 minutes. This year he averages 5.4ppg, 2.6rpg and 1.3spg in seven games.

   #7. Luka Garza (6'10''-C-1998, played in 2017-21, plays in the NBA) contributed to an Boston Celtics' surprising victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers crushing them 125-105 in the NBA last Wednesday. Garza scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. This season he averages 5.1ppg and 3.4rpg. Garza is a naturalized Bosnian.

   #8. Tony Perkins (6'4''-G-2001, played in 2020-24, currently in Lithuania) contributed to Nevezis' victory against one of league's weakest teams Gargzdu 94-87 in the Lithuanian LKL on Monday night. Perkins scored 14 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 28 minutes. He has individually a very good year with high stats. Perkins averages 19.9ppg, 3.7rpg, 2.9apg and 1.4spg in seven games.

   #9. Aaron White (6'9''-F-1992, played in 2011-15, plays pro in Japan) contributed to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked Ballooners crushing them 92-67 in the Japanese B1 League in Saturday night's game. White scored 6 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. This season he averages 7.0ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.7apg.

   #10. Drew Thelwell (6'3''-G-2002, played in 2024-25, plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for Elan Bearnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez (6-3) in their last game. Despite his good performance Elan Bearnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez lost 85-89 in Caen to the much lower-ranked (#18) Calvados. Thelwell scored 11 points in 22 minutes. He has relatively good stats this year 10.7ppg, 1.6rpg, 1.7apg and 1.1spg in nine games.
