One of the best players all spring and summer in the Midwest has been David Joplin (6'7''-SF). Playing with D1 Minnesota, Joplin who is from the state of Wisconsin is one of the best players in the Upper Midwest and shined at nearly 6-foot-8. Joplin announced his decision on Sunday evening of his intention to pick the Longhorns. Joplin currently ranks as the No. 147 prospect in the class of 2021 in the 247Sports Top247, and he picked the Longhorns over significant interest from other high-major programs. Said D1 Minnesota program director Jeremy Miller, "That is a great get for Texas. Shaka has worked hard recruiting David and he has been a great player for us. I am sure David is going to lead them to a lot of wins." Landing Joplin is big as he can play either forward spot and has the ability to make a major impact right away with his athleticism and versatility. The Longhorns always seemed in the driver's seat in this recruitment, and they were able to snag him. This is the third commitment for Texas in the class of 2021. Joplin joins three-star forward Keeyan Itejere and three-star combo guard Emarion Ellis in what is a growing class for Smart. Things could really be heating up for the Longhorns as they look to land some big fish from in-state and in the region as kids are moving toward a decision. |
