EuroBasket Pro Hornets Weekly Update

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Hornets alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.



   #1. Mikh McKinney (6'1''-G-92, graduated '15, plays pro in China) led his Chinese team Macau to a victory over the seventh-ranked WM Dragons (4-4) 97-87 in the ASEAN League in Wednesday night's game. He was MVP of the game. McKinney recorded 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 8 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) in 38 minutes. Macau Black Bears (7-7) are placed third in the ASEAN League. McKinney has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 24.7ppg, 5.4rpg, 7.4apg and 1.7spg in 14 games he played so far. McKinney is a naturalized Filipino.

   #2. Justin Strings (6'7''-F-96, graduated '18, plays in Germany) was the major contributor in a Tigers Tuebingen's victory against one of league's weakest teams Schalke (6-15) 85-77 in the German ProA (second division) last Saturday. Strings recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks (made all of his six free throws); quite an impressive performance considering it's only Strings' second season in pro basketball. Tigers Tuebingen (10-11) is placed tenth in the ProA. It's Strings' first year with the team. He has relatively good stats this season 10.3ppg, 3.9rpg and 1.2apg.

   #3. Nick Hornsby (6'7''-F-95, graduated '17, currently in Germany) was the main contributor in a Bayer Giants' victory against the eighth-ranked Uni Baskets (11-10) crushing them 103-82 in the German ProA (second division) on Saturday night. He was MVP of the game. Hornsby had a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 15 rebounds. He also added 3 assists in 30 minutes; not bad, considering it's only Hornsby's third season in pro basketball. Bayer Giants Leverkusen (12-8) is placed fourth in the ProA. Hornsby has relatively good stats this year 13.6ppg, 5.6rpg, 4.6apg and 1.5spg in 20 games.

   #4. Marcus Graves (6'0''-PG-96, graduated '19, plays pro in the NBA G League) could not help the Stockton Kings (15-13) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Graves' good performance the Stockton Kings (#2) were defeated107-101on the road by the Wisconsin Herd. He scored 14 points and added 8 assists. This season Graves averages 6.1ppg, 2.4rpg and 3.6apg.

   #5. Cody Demps (6'4''-G-93, graduated '16, plays in the NBA G League) is a teammate of previously mentioned Marcus Graves. But that was another game of his team in NBA G League which we would like to mention. Demps was not able to help the Stockton Kings (15-13) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Stockton Kings (#2) lost114-110in Salt Lake City to the Stars. Demps recorded 15 points and blocked 2 blocks in 46 minutes. Demps has relatively good stats this year 14.4ppg, 5.5rpg and 2.6apg in 28 games.

   #6. John Dickson (6'6''-F-90, graduated '13, currently in Iraq) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Duhok 71-53 in the Iraqi Superleague on Wednesday night. He was MVP of the game. Dickson scored 26 points (!!!). This season Dickson has very high stats. He averages 16.4ppg, 7.9rpg and 2.9apg.
