We bring you last week's top former Chippewas players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Marcus Keene (5'11''-PG-95, graduated '17, plays pro in South Korea) could not help KCC Egis (28-26) in their last game. Despite his very good performance KCC Egis lost 80-84 at home to the leading Mobis Phoebus.
Keene was the second best scorer with 24 points. He also added 4 passes in 22 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Keene's second season in pro basketball. Keene has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 16.4ppg, 2.8rpg and 3.1apg in 17 games he played so far.
#2. Experienced Giordan Watson (5'10''-PG-85, graduated '08, plays in Romania) was not able to help Oradea (11-11) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance the third-placed Oradea (11-11) was defeated 90-81 on the road by the lower-ranked Pitesti (#6) in the Group Red.
Watson recorded 10 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists.
There are only three games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game will be critical.
It's Watson's first season with the team.
He has relatively good stats this year 12.4ppg, 3.2rpg, 4.9apg and 1.1spg.
Watson is a naturalized Romanian.
#3. Andre Coimbra (6'9''-PF-86, graduated '12, currently in Brazil) was not able to secure a victory for Sao Jose (4-6) in their game against Botafogo F.R. (12-14) in the Brazilian NBB, despite his good performance last Friday.
Coimbra scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 20 minutes.
But Sao Jose lost 61-66 in Rio de Janeiro to the lower-ranked (#7) Botafogo F.R..
It's Coimbra's first season with the team.
This year he averages 5.3ppg and 3.6rpg in 28 games.
#4. Rayshawn Simmons (6'4''-G-93, graduated '16, plays pro in Germany) couldn't help Team Ehingen Urspring (17-13) in their game against MLP Academics Heidelberg (19-11) in the German ProA (second division). Despite his good performance on Saturday night Simmons recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and making the same number of passes.
Simmons has relatively good stats this season 11.8ppg, 3.4rpg and 9.4apg.
#5. Cecil Williams (6'6''-PF-95, graduated '18, plays in France) couldn't help Sorgues BC (7-5) in their game against Union Tours (8-4) in the French NM1 (third division), despite his very good performance in Saturday night's game.
Williams recorded 13 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 23 minutes.
But the fifth-placed Sorgues BC (7-5) was crushed 97-75 on their home court in Sorgues by the higher-ranked (#3) Union Tours in the Places 11-20 group.
It was Sorgues BC's third consecutive loss in a row.
There are only four games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game is very crucial.
It's Williams' first season with the team.
He has relatively good stats this year 12.5ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.9apg in 27 games.
#6. Marcus Van (6'7''-F/C-87, graduated '09, currently in Spain) contributed to Albacete's victory against the tenth-ranked Gijon 69-62 in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division) on Saturday night.
He recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting the same number of rebounds. Van also added 4 assists.
This season he averages 9.5ppg, 9.1rpg and 1.3apg.
#7. Braylon Rayson (5'9''-PG-94, graduated '17, plays pro in Canada) was the major contributor in a 1-point Sudbury Five's victory against the St. John's Edge 100-99 in the NBLCanada in Friday night's game.
He recorded 22 points in 39 minutes.
Rayson has very impressive stats this year 24.8ppg, 4.1rpg and 4.8apg in 40 games.
