EuroBasket Pro Islanders Weekly Update

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Islanders alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.



   #1. Rashawn Thomas (6'8''-F-94, graduated '17, plays pro in Italy) led his Italian team Banco di Srd to a victory over the third-ranked Leiden (2-4) crushing them 94-68 in the FIBA Europe Cup on Wednesday night. He was MVP of the game. Thomas recorded a double-double by scoring 40 points and getting 16 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks in 32 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Thomas' second season in pro basketball. Banco di Sardegna Sassari (5-1) is placed first in group K. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Thomas has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages 15.4ppg, 5.8rpg, 2.3apg and 1.1spg.

   #2. Experienced Michael Hicks (6'5''-F-76, graduated '01, plays in Argentina) could not help San Martin Corrientes (11-10) in their last game. Despite his very good performance San Martin Corrientes lost 84-91 on the road to the lower-ranked (#11) Estudiantes Concordia. Hicks was the top scorer with 24 points. He also added 4 rebounds. It's Hicks' first season with the team. Hicks has very impressive stats this year 17.4ppg and 4.2rpg in 21 games he played so far.

   #3. Demond Watt (6'7''-F-89, graduated '11, currently in France) was the main contributor in a 1-point STB Le Havre's victory against the eighth-ranked Lorient (11-13) 65-64 in the French NM1 (third division) last Saturday. He was MVP of the game. Watt scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 25 minutes. STB Le Havre (17-7) is placed second in Group B. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended. Watt has relatively good stats this season 13.6ppg, 8.8rpg, 1.3apg and 1.2spg.

   #4. Bryce Douvier (6'7''-F-91, graduated '16, plays pro in Spain) was the major contributor in a Liberbank Oviedo's victory against the 15th-ranked Barca II (8-17) crushing them 103-63 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) on Saturday night. Douvier recorded 15 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists; not bad, considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. Liberbank Oviedo (16-9) is placed third in the LEB Gold. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Douvier has relatively good stats this year 13.5ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.5apg in two games. He is a naturalized Austrian.

   #5. Viktor Juricek (6'11''-F-93, graduated '16, plays in Slovakia) was not able to help Nova Ves (9-6) in their game last Saturday. Despite his good performance Nova Ves was defeated 88-76 on the opponent's court by the lower-ranked Handlova (#7). Juricek was the second best scorer with 14 points. He also added 5 rebounds in 25 minutes. Juricek has relatively good stats this season 12.2ppg, 5.8rpg and 1.1apg.

   #6. Zane Knowles (6'10''-C-92, graduated '14, currently in France) contributed to a Chartres Basket Masculins' victory against the 12th-ranked Lille Metropole 85-77 in the French ProB (second division) last Saturday. He scored 6 points, had 8 rebounds and made 2 blocks. Knowles has relatively good stats this year 11.4ppg, 5.9rpg and 1.3bpg in seven games.
