Here is the weekly review of the top performing Wildcats alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Michael Beasley (6'10''-F-89, graduated '08, plays pro in China) could not help Guangdong Southern Tigers (36-5) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Guangdong Southern Tigers were edged on the road by the much lower-ranked (#16) Monkey Kings.
Beasley had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 3 assists, 2 blocks and 3 steals in 33 minutes. It was his first game for Guangdong Southern Tigers this season.
#2. Jacob Pullen (6'1''-PG-89, graduated '11, plays in Croatia) was not able to help KK Cedevita Zagreb (14-6) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance KK Cedevita Zagreb was defeated 82-71 in Novo Mesto by the league outsider Krka (#12).
Pullen was the top scorer with 17 points. He also added 3 passes.
There are only two games left until the end of the ABA League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
It's Pullen's first season with the team.
Pullen has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 17.6ppg, 1.8rpg and 2.1apg.
Pullen is a naturalized Georgian.
#3. Henry Walker (6'6''-G/F-87, graduated '08, currently in Japan), who plays in the Japanese B League was not able to secure a victory for Shiga L-Stars (8-33) in their last game. Despite Walker's very good performance the sixth-placed Shiga L-Stars (8-33) lost 83-88 in Kyoto to the second-ranked Hannaryz in the West group.
He was the top scorer with 25 points. Walker also added 9 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 38 minutes. It was his first game for Shiga L-Stars this season.
It was Shiga L-Stars' fifth consecutive loss in a row.
#4. Thomas Gipson (6'7''-F-93, graduated '15, plays pro in Finland) led Kouvot to a 3-point victory against the closely-ranked Tampereen Pyrinto (9-5) 83-80 in the Finnish Korisliiga in Wednesday night's game.
He scored 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Kouvot Kouvola (15-10) is placed fourth in the Korisliiga.
This season Gipson has very high stats. He averages 16.0ppg, 6.0rpg and 2.7apg.
#5. Rodney McGruder (6'4''-G-91, graduated '13, plays in the NBA) contributed to a 1-point Miami Heat's victory against the Golden State Warriors (43-19) 126-125 in the NBA last Wednesday.
He recorded 8 points in 18 minutes.
The Miami Heat has 27-34 record this season.
McGruder has relatively good stats this year 8.2ppg, 3.8rpg and 1.9apg in 54 games he played so far.
#6. Experienced Lance Harris (6'6''-F/G-84, graduated '07, currently in Slovenia) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Vrsac crushing them 103-77 in the ABA League on Thursday night.
He scored 8 points.
This season Harris has very high stats. He averages 15.1ppg, 3.8rpg and 1.8apg.
#7. Wesley Iwundu (6'7''-F-94, graduated '17, plays pro in the NBA) managed to help Orlando Magic in a victory against the Toronto Raptors 113-98 in the NBA in Sunday night's game.
He recorded 5 points and blocked 2 shots in 22 minutes.
This year Iwundu averages 5.0ppg and 2.6rpg in 49 games.
#8. Curtis Kelly (6'10''-F/C-88, graduated '11, plays in Turkey) couldn't help Akhisar Belediye (12-9) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance Akhisar Belediye was defeated 74-70 in Ankara by the much lower-ranked D.S.I. (#13).
Kelly scored 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Kelly has relatively good stats this season 14.0ppg, 6.4rpg and 1.4apg.
#9. Justin Edwards (6'3''-G-92, graduated '16, currently in South Korea) couldn't help Anyang KGC in their game against LG Sakers in the South Korean KBL.
Edwards scored only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 20 minutes.
His team lost 65-79.
Edwards has very impressive stats this year 15.2ppg, 4.1rpg, 2.8apg and 1.7spg in 29 games.
#10. Jamar Samuels (6'7''-F-89, graduated '12, plays pro in Israel) led Kiryat Motzkin to an easy victory against the league outsider Hapoel Kfar Saba crushing them 93-71 in the Israeli National League (second division) in Tuesday night's game.
He scored 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
Samuels has relatively good stats this season 12.5ppg, 7.1rpg, 1.7apg and 1.7spg.
