EuroBasket Pro Razorbacks Weekly Update

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Razorbacks alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.



   #1. Courtney Fortson (5'11''-PG-88, graduated '10, plays pro in China) was the major contributor in a Zhejiang Guangsha Lions' victory against the tenth-ranked Sharks (21-19) 127-110 in the Chinese CBA in Friday night's game. He scored 27 points (!!!), grabbed 7 boards, passed 8 assists and added 6 steals in 39 minutes. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (29-10) are placed fourth in the CBA. Fortson has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 24.2ppg, 8.2rpg, 11.2apg and 2.5spg in 37 games he played so far.

   #2. Experienced Sonny Weems (6'6''-G/F-86, graduated '08, plays in China) could not help Guangdong Southern Tigers (35-5) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite his very good performance Guangdong Southern Tigers were defeated 110-104 on the road by the much lower-ranked Sharks (#10). Weems was the second best scorer with 24 points. He also added 7 rebounds and 5 assists. It's Weems' first season with the team. This year Weems has very high stats. He averages 22.9ppg, 6.0rpg, 6.3apg and 1.6spg.

   #3. Teddy Gipson (6'3''-G-80, graduated '02, currently in Holland) led Groningen to a victory over the eighth-ranked Rotterdam (6-17) crushing them 111-72 in the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday night. He was MVP of the game. Gipson scored 21 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 8 assists in 27 minutes. Donar Groningen (15-7) is placed fourth in the Eredivisie. Gipson has relatively good stats this year 10.4ppg, 3.2rpg and 2.7apg in 18 games.

   #4. Jaylen Barford (6'3''-G-96, graduated '18, plays pro in the NBA G League) contributed to a 1-point Greensboro Swarm's victory against the Grand Rapids Drive (18-19) 118-117 in the NBA G League in Tuesday night's game. Barford scored 28 points (!!!); quite an impressive performance considering it's only his first season in pro basketball. The Greensboro Swarm has 18-18 record this season. It's Barford's first year with the team. This year Barford has very high stats. He averages 19.6ppg, 3.7rpg, 1.3apg and 1.2spg.

   #5. Bobby Portis (6'10''-PF-95, graduated '15, plays in the NBA) was not able to help the Washington Wizards (24-34) in their last game. Despite Portis' good performance the Washington Wizards (24-34) lost 120-129 in Toronto to the Raptors. He scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 28 minutes. Portis has very impressive stats this year 19.0ppg, 7.3rpg and 2.0apg in four games.

   #6. Jabril Durham (6'1''-G-94, graduated '16, currently in Latvia) contributed to a 1-point VEF Riga's victory against the sixth-ranked Zenit 102-101 in the VTB United League on Thursday night. He scored 9 points and added 8 assists. This season Durham averages 7.6ppg, 3.3rpg, 6.1apg and 1.4spg.

   #7. Dustin Thomas (6'8''-F-95, graduated '18, plays pro in Cyprus) contributed to Etha's victory against the closely-ranked AEL 85-74 in the Cypriot Division A in Wednesday night's game. Thomas had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 3 assists in 37 minutes. Thomas has relatively good stats this year 14.6ppg, 7.6rpg and 2.1apg in 17 games.

   #8. Patrick Beverley (6'1''-PG-88, graduated '08, plays in the NBA) managed to help Los Angeles Clippers to win against the Phoenix Suns crushing them 134-107 in the NBA last Wednesday. Beverley scored only 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Beverley has relatively good stats this season 7.3ppg, 4.6rpg and 3.5apg.

   #9. Rashad Madden (6'5''-G-92, graduated '15, currently in Israel) contributed to H.Galilee's victory against the closely-ranked Kiryat Motzkin 89-76 in the Israeli National League (second division) on Tuesday night. He recorded 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists in 38 minutes. Madden has very impressive stats this year 16.7ppg, 7.1rpg and 4.7apg in 20 games.

   #10. Anthlon Bell (6'3''-G-93, graduated '16, plays pro in Norway) was not able to secure a victory for Nidaros Jets (5-19) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Bell's very good performance Nidaros Jets was defeated 95-88 at home by the higher-ranked Fyllingen BBK (#5). He was the second best scorer with 21 points. Bell also added 5 rebounds and 5 assists. This season Bell has very high stats. He averages 24.1ppg, 5.1rpg, 3.6apg and 1.1spg.
