EuroBasket Pro Lumberjacks Weekly Update

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Lumberjacks alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.



   #1. Nikola Gajic (6'5''-G/F-91, graduated '14, plays pro in Slovenia) led Helios Suns to a victory over the closely-ranked P.Olimpija (10-8) 72-60 in the Slovenian Liga Nova KBM in Tuesday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Gajic scored 15 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 26 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Helios Suns Domzale (12-2) is placed first in the Liga Nova KBM. It's Gajic's first season with the team. This year he averages 8.7ppg, 6.3rpg, 2.5apg and 1.9spg in 13 games he played so far. Gajic has also Serbian passport.

   #2. Thomas Walkup (6'4''-G-92, graduated '16, plays in Lithuania) managed to help B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas to win against the seventh-ranked Dzukija (7-14) 90-75 in the Lithuanian LKL last Sunday. He recorded only 4 points and added 4 passes. B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas (20-2) is placed first in the LKL. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. It's Walkup's first season with the team. This year Walkup averages 5.6ppg, 3.3rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg.

   #3. Leon Gilmore III (6'7''-F-95, graduated '18, currently in Latvia), who plays in the Latvian LatEstBL could not help Jekabpils (1-16) in their last game. Despite Gilmore III's very good performance Jekabpils was crushed 101-55 on the road by the higher-ranked (#8) Tartu Ulikool. He had a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 12 rebounds. Gilmore III also added and 4 steals in 34 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his first season in pro basketball. It was Jekabpils' 15th consecutive loss in a row. Gilmore III has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 15.5ppg, 7.5rpg, 3.5apg and 2.3spg in six games.

   #4. Deshaunt Walker (5'11''-PG-91, graduated '14, plays pro in Canada) contributed to a 3-point Cape Breton Highlanders' victory against the Moncton Magic (17-9) 105-102 in the NBL Canada in Thursday night's game. He scored 15 points. The Cape Breton Highlanders have 14-14 record this season. It was his team's first victory after six consecutive loses. It's Walker's first year with the team. This season Walker has very high stats. He averages 15.5ppg, 7.5rpg, 3.5apg and 2.3spg.
