Buffalo wins MAC Tournament Championship - Mar 11, 2018
No. 1 seed Buffalo defeated No. 2 seed Toledo, 76-66, in the Mid-American Conference Tournament Championship game at Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday night. Buffalo was paced by senior guard Wes Clark (6'0''-G-94) with 26 points, while forward Nick Perkins (6'8''-F-96) added 16 points. Toledo opened an early 14-10 lead at the 12:23 mark of the first half, however, Buffalo tied the game at 21-21 on a Dontay Caruthers layup with 7:50 left in the half. Buffalo finished with a 13-8 run to lead 34-29 at the end of the first half. Buffalo jumped out in the second half with two quick three pointers by Nick Perkins and Wes Clark to open a 40-31 lead at the 18:29 mark. Toledo kept chipping away at the deficit and Willie Jackson (6'6''-F-96)'s layup with 11:26 in the second cut the Buffalo lead to 49-47. Toledo's Marreon Jackson (6'0''-G)'s three pointer tied the game at 63-63 with 5:32 left. Buffalo responed with two Wes Clark free throws with 3:57 left to open a 67-63 lead. Perkins nailed a three pointer to extend the Bulls lead to 70-63 with 2:50 left. Perkins muscled a basket off the glass with 1:50 left for a 72-63 lead and Buffalo held on the rest of the way for the victory.
