The Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers won the 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s Basketball Championship title on Saturday night at Historic Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. No. 6 Mount defeated No. 4 Iona University, 63-49, winning the program’s first ever MAAC title and its program’s seventh overall league crown. Iona started the game with leads of 6-0, 9-2, 11-4, and 16-6 (9:47) after a DeJour Reaves corner three. Mount St. Mary’s used a quick 10-4 run at the 5:12 mark to cut its deficit to four-points. With the Gaels still ahead by 10 with 2:24 to play in the half, the Mountaineers ripped off the final nine points of the half, capped off by a fast break two handed dunk by Dola Adebayo (6'8''-F), to send the game into the locker room with Iona leading the Mount, 26-25. The Mount’s rally continued, opening the half on 15-6 run, to take a 40-32 lead. In all, the run was a 24-6 edge in favor of the Mount over a 9:25 timespan. The Mountaineers maintain lead, only letting the Gaels get within one possession twice before running up the score to double figures 1:44 to play, closing out the victory. Mount St. Mary’s Notes and Notables Dallas Hobbs (6'1''-G) paced the Mount with 18 points and seven assists. Dola Adebayo scored 15 points and had three assists and three rebounds. Arlandus Keyes (6'2''-G) finished with 14 points and four assists. Jedy Cordilia (6'9''-F) grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds. Mount St. Mary’s reached 22 wins for the first time at the Division I level. The Mountaineers scored 16 points off turnovers, had 20 paint points, and got 17 points from their reserves. The championship was the first for the Mount as a member of the MAAC and it’s program’s seventh conference championship, having previously won six Northeast Conference titles, the last one in 2021 a year before joining the MAAC. Mount St. Mary’s will find out their seed and opponent during the NCAA Men’s Basketball Selection Show, which airs live on CBS on Sunday, March 16 at 6:00 p.m. Iona Notes and Notables Reaves was Iona’s leading scorer for the third straight tournament game, scoring a game-high 19 points. He also recorded seven rebounds and two steals. Njie was the next highest scorer, ending the game with eight points. Jalen Barr (6'4''-F) was next on the scoring list with six points. Adebayo was selected as the 2025 Championship MVP. Joining him on the MAAC All-Championship Team were teammates Hobbs and Keyes, and Njie and Reaves from runner-up Iona. Additionally, Adam Clark (5'10''-PG) from Merrimack College, and Amarri Monroe (6'7''-F) from Quinnipiac University were named to the team. MAAC Final: Iona - Mt.
