Seahawks capture second straight CAA Championship - Mar 7, 2017
Sophomore guard C.J. Bryce (6'5''-G) scored a game-high 24 points, and classmate Devontae Cacok (6'7''-F) added a double-double of 15 points and 14 boards on a perfect 6-of-6 shooting, as UNCW captured its second straight CAA Men's Basketball title with a 78-69 win over second-seeded College of Charleston. Bryce was named Tournament Most Outstanding Player, scoring 16 of his points in the second half for the top-seeded Seahawks (29-5), who earn their second consecutive trip to the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. Cacok's perfect shooting performance also was highlighted by two blocks, one steal and one assist, while redshirt seniors Denzel Ingram (6'0''-PG) and Chris Flemmings (6'5''-G) chipped in 11 and eight points (as well as five three-pointers combined), respectively. UNCW upped its own program record for single-season wins, and won its sixth CAA trophy overall. College of Charleston (25-9), appearing in its first title game as a member of the conference, was paced by redshirt junior Joe Chealey (6'3''-G-95)'s 21 points and sophomore Jarrell Brantley (6'7''-F-96)'s double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds in defeat.
