Michigan Claims 2025 TIAA Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament Title-Mar 17, 2025
The number three seeded Michigan Wolverines claimed the 2025 TIAA Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament title with a 59-53 win over No. 5 seed Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind. The win marked the third tournament championship for the Wolverines, joining crowns in 2017 and 2018.
With Sunday’s victory, Michigan clinched the Big Ten’s automatic berth into the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
Tre Donaldson (6'3''-G-2003) and Vladislav Goldin (7'1''-C-2001) led Michigan with 11 points each, while a trio of Wolverines added eight points, including Danny Wolf, who grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
Michigan trailed by as many as 11 points with 13:11 to play but closed the game on an 11-2 run over the final 3:55. The Wolverines sealed the win by hitting all six of their free throw attempts in the final 46 seconds.
Johnathan Blackwell (6'4''-G) led the Badgers with 18 points and finished the tournament with 94 points, third most for a player in tournament history.
Wisconsin was appearing in its second-consecutive championship game and in the final for the ninth time, which matches Ohio State for most of any school.
Goldin was named the Tournament’s Most Valuable Player and was joined by Wolf, Blackwell, Wisconsin’s John Tonje (6'6''-G-2001), and Maryland’s Derik Queen (6'10''-C) on the All-Tournament Team.
