Colorado Mesa claim first ever #RMACmbb Tournament Title - Mar 8, 2020
The 2020 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Men's Basketball Tournament presented by Under Armour ended with No. 4 seed Colorado Mesa defeating No. 3 seeded Colorado School of Mines to claim their first RMAC Tournament Title by a score of 69-61. The Mavericks competed in their first tournament final since 2005 while the Orediggers return after their 2017 appearance. Colorado Mesa started their tournament run with home matchup against No. 5 UCCS where they defeated them by a score of 69-66. In the semifinals, the 86-79 win over top seeded Dixie State where they were able to move onto the tournament championships. Colorado School of Mines began their trip to finals with a win on the home court against No. 6 New Mexico Highlands where they won by a score of 73-66. In the next round, it was the battle of the engineers, as CSM took down SDSMT by a score of 76-59. The trio of Tommy Nuno (6'5''-G), Michael Skinner (6'3''-G) and Ethan Richardson (6'10''-F) led the charge for the Mavericks as they combined for 55 of Colorado Mesa's 69 points. Nuno also posted a double-double with 15 rebounds to go along with his point total. On the Orediggers' side, Mason Baker (6'0''-PG) led the way with 18 points as well as Kobi Betts (6'3''-G) and Brendan Sullivan (6'6''-G/F) scoring 12 and 11 points respectively.
