The Central Baptist College Mustangs stampeded to victory in the 2024 American Midwest Conference (AMC) Men's Basketball Tournament Presented By Tandem HR Championship on Monday night in Conway, Ark., defeating Missouri Baptist University, 105-72.
Central Baptist is the first team in to top-100-point mark in the Tournament championship game. The 33-point margin of victory is the second largest in the championship game (CBC 89-54 over Columbia in 2021). It is the Mustangs' third AMC Tournament title, tied for third-most all-time.
Central Baptist became the first team to have two 100-point games in a single AMC Tournament since Freed-Hardeman in 2014.
Central Baptists’ offense started fast and early; the Mustangs took a 53-31 lead to the half, shooting 57.1 percent from the floor and 50 percent from behind the arc. They stayed hot in the second half shooting 56.2 percent from the floor.
Sage Borbon (5'9''-PG) was all over the court for the Mustangs. He led all scorers with 26 points, had six rebounds, and five assists. Deshawn Corprew (6'5''-G) (16 points), Kyle Harding (6'3''-G) (15 points) and Wade Williams (6'5''-G) (12 points) were also key to the Central Baptist victory.
Central Baptist had 18 total team assists led by five each. Borbon, Devin Foster, and Jonas Carlise.
Courtland Soll (6'3''-G) led for Spartans in double-digits with 16 points off the bench. Breven McMullen (14 points, six rebounds), Mujtaba Alkhadi (11 points), and Nico Hill (6'4''-G/F) (11 points) were other key contributors for Missouri Baptist.
The Spartans had 19 offensive rebounds.
