William Woods Wins First-Ever AMC Men’s Basketball Tournament Title-Mar 5, 2025
The William Woods Owls won their first-ever American Midwest Conference Tournament Presented by Tandem HR title with a victory over the Central Baptist Mustangs on Tuesday night, 85-52.
William Woods is now 1-2 all-time in championship game
#1-seed is now 16-5 all-time in the championship game, winning four straight
Henry Shannon III (6'7''-F) of William Woods led the floor with 20 points, Kevin Taylor (6'6''-G/F) and Tre Titus scored 15 points while Francis Okwuosah (6'6''-F) added 18 points.
Wade Williams (6'5''-G) was the only Mustang in double figures with 12 points while Devin Foster (6'3''-G) pulled down 11 boards.
Taylor broke the all-time single game tournament record in most defensive rebounds with 15 and he tied most rebounds with 20.
Devin Foster blocked four shots for the Mustangs while Taylor blocked four shots for the Owls.
William Woods’ D'Mari Wiltz (6'2''-PG) dished out 10 assists.
William Woods shot 43 percent from the field, 40 percent from beyond the arc and 81 percent from the free-throw line. Central Baptist shot 25 percent from the field, 10 percent from deep and 68 percent from the foul-line.

All-AMC Awards 2025-Mar 5, 2025
Collin Parker, forward from the Columbia College, MO, was honored as the Player of the Year at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. He received multiple other awards, earned a spot in the First Team and Defensive Team. Parker averaged almost 23 points and 10 rebounds per game in the league. He has totalled 22 games of 20 or more points on the year and recorded 30 or more points in 3 games. Parker registered double-doubles in 15 games during the event. His 36 points against Bellevue were the most he scored in the 24 25 season.
Jonas Carlisle, guard from the Central Baptist College, earned the Defensive Player of the Year of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. He collected multiple other honors, was voted to the First Team and Defensive Team. With Carlisle's excellent performance, the Central Baptist College achieved the best record of the season in the league, finishing with an impressive 26 to 5 in the regular season. Carlisle had over 12 points and 7 rebounds per game that season in the league. He recorded double-doubles in 2 games at the event. Carlisle's 20 points against the BMCU were the most he scored in the 24 25 season.
Joshua Talton, shooting guard from the Hannibal - La Grange University, picked up the Newcomer of the Year at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. He was also selected to the First Team. Talton logged 14 points and over 4 rebounds per game over the season in the league. He has totalled 6 games of 20 or more points on the year. Talton's 25 points against the UHSP were the most he scored in the 24 25 season. He played in the final of the NJCAA D2 Region XXIV in 2024.
Sage Borbon, point guard from the Central Baptist College, was chosen to the First Team of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. He averaged over 18 points and 3 assists per game in the league. Borbon has totalled 13 games of 20 or more points on the year and registered 30 or more points in 2 games. His 43 points against the Freed Hardeman University were the most he scored in the 24 25 season. Among many awards he was selected to the All-Central Valley Conference First Team in 2023. Francis Okwuosah, forward from the William Woods University, was named to the First Team at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. With Okwuosah's excellent performance, the William Woods University achieved the best record of the season in the league, finishing with an impressive 28 to 2 in the regular season. He notched almost 15 points and 7 rebounds per game that season in the league. Okwuosah has totalled 3 games of 20 or more points and recorded double-doubles in 7 games on the year. His 24 points against the Columbia College, MO were the most he scored in the 24 25 season.
