Columbia Claims First AMC Men's Basketball Tournament Title Since 2016-Mar 2, 2023
The Columbia College Cougars claimed their ninth American Midwest Conference (AMC) Men's Basketball Tournament Title and first since 2016 with a 62-53 win against the Central Baptist College Mustangs.

Notes:
The Cougars were appearing in their third-straight AMC Men's Basketball Tournament Final. This was thier first win in the three tries.
The nine tournament titles are the most of any AMC team.
Central Baptist has won or finished as the tournament runner-up in four of the last five years.
The No. 1-seed has won back-to-back tournament titles for the first time since 2014 and 2015.
The home team has won the last three tournament championships.

How it Happened:
The Mustangs jumped out to a 9-2 lead, before the Cougars came storming back and took a 14-11 lead with 11:25 left in the first half. The Cougars continued to increase their lead increasing the advantage to double-figures (30-19) with a little over three minutes left in the first half. Columbia took a double-digit advantage into the halftime break.
After a 3-point field goal by CC's Collin Parker (6'8''-F) increased the lead to 37-21, the Mustangs started chipping away. A 13-0 run got CBC within three points (37-34) with 14:45 remaining. After the teams traded bucket over the next six-plus minutes, the Mustangs were able to tie the game at 46-46 with 7:29 remaining in regulation. The Cougars would never trail in the second half and a pair of free throws from Dogukan Kara (5'10''-PG) with 47-seconds left put the Cougar lead up to eight and out of reach.

Inside the Box Score:
The Cougars shot 44-percent from the field (22-50) and 30-percent (7-23) from distance.
Central Baptist went 18-49 (37-percent) from the field and 6-25 (24-percent) from behind the 3-point arc. Additionally, they went 11-13 from the charity stripe.
Columbia won the rebound battle, 35-27.
The Cougars had 12 second chance points compared to just two for the Mustangs.
Three players scored in double-figures for Central Baptist - Jalen Adams (12), Brevin Brimble (10) and TaJuan Johnson (10).
Gabe Johnson (6'1''-G) dished out a team-best three assists in the loss.
James Moore (6'8''-F) brought down a team-high seven rebounds for CBC.
Marlon Allen (6'5''-F) recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for Columbia.
Collin Parker scored 12 points in the win.
