We bring you last week's top former Trojans players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. BJ Fitzgerald, a 6'6'' guard who graduated from Virginia St. in 2023, continues to make waves in the professional basketball scene in the Dominican Republic. His recent stellar performance led the Indios to a hard-fought 97-93 victory over Soles, where he scored an impressive 41 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in just 34 minutes of play. This outstanding display earned him the MVP title of the game and further solidified his reputation as a champion.
Despite being only in his third season in professional basketball, Fitzgerald has been consistently delivering remarkable performances. With the Indios de San Francisco currently sitting at the top of the league with a record of 12-2, Fitzgerald's leadership and skill have been instrumental in guiding his team to success. The recent win marked their fifth consecutive victory, highlighting their strong momentum as they approach the final stages of the Regular Season.
As the Regular Season nears its end, every game becomes crucial for Fitzgerald and his team. With only two games left to play, the pressure is on to maintain their position at the top of the league standings. Fitzgerald's remarkable season statistics, averaging 20.3 points per game (the second best in the league), along with 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in the 14 games he has played so far, demonstrate his exceptional talent and contribution to the team's success.
Fitzgerald's exceptional performance against Soles not only secured a vital win for the Indios but also earned him the prestigious Elite Badge from eurobasket.com, further underscoring his status as a finalist in the league and a true champion on the court.
